What a treat we've got for you coming up this Sunday 14th June at Barny's! We are delighted to welcome back multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and ex-Decameron member Dik Cadbury, and if that wasn't enough, he will be supported by Jan Vaisey and Ian Harvey, Frank McConnell, AND ... a surprise special guest! You won't want to miss this!

Barny's Review March 2026

We've had some truly memorable music at Barny's in the last two months. In February we were pleased to welcome back Mark Waistell who drove to Stroud from Devon on one of the coldest and wettest evenings of the year.

Sadly, this inspired some of our regulars to stay home by the fire, and with a second distraction of the Transatlantic Sessions in Oxford the same night, we had a small audience. I'm happy to say it made no difference to the totally professional Mark who entertained us with two marvellous sets of original songs, and a new album! As the late Wizz Jones used to say, 'With an audience, it's quality not quantity that counts!'

Later in the month we had an extra night with Sam & Anna Dugdale who (at very short notice) kindly replaced Nicola Clark who was unwell. Their brilliant songs along with a particularly wacky selection of floor spots made for another excellent evening.

In March we had a visit from the duo 'Fly Yeti Fly' supported by the 'Risky Picks'. Darren and Lorna's uplifting and stylish performance always inspires a lovely atmosphere and, perhaps because we haven't seen them for ages, they were even better than ever! And it was great to have the Risky Picks with their superb instrumentals and original songs.

On April 12th we have a first visit from Enda McCabe, supported by Richard Cox. Further details coming up soon.

And on April 18th Barny's patron, Johnny Coppin celebrates '50 Years as a Solo Singer-songwriter' at the Bacon Theatre.
This will be a wonderful evening which will include an 'all star cast' of musicians Johnny has worked with. Not to be missed!! I believe there are still a few tickets left.

A wonderful night with the talented Steve Ferbrache and some first class floor spots.

I was so sorry I was unable to be there, but judging by the numerous emails and calls I received the following day, it would seem that everyone had a great time.

Thanks to Steve, Jim & Hilary and all who were there, especially MC Geoff wearing his excellent waistcoat from the Liberace Museum! (see photo by Anne)

Next month, just for a change, we have two special nights:

On 8th February (our usual slot) the popular singer-songwriter Mark Waistell returns to Barny's, and we look forward to another night of entertainment and high quality music.

On 22nd February Nicola Clark, who had to postpone her December gig due to illness, will be our main guest, supported by Sam & Anna Dugdale.
