Stroud Beer Festival returns to the forecourt, Fri 31 July to Sun 2 Aug. 🍻 It's our favourite weekend of the year, giving us a chance to bring music out of the ballroom and onto the forecourt for three days beer, cider, food, music and free-entry fun! 🤩 We've got a full line up of grassroots live acts, racks upon racks of locally brewed beverages and a tantalisingly tasty street food offering in the cafe. 🥙 We are counting down the days! Rodigan doesn’t stop. And he doesn’t want to either. A true legend and British music icon. 🇬🇧🔊🔥

For over 40 years David Rodigan has been a top-dog in Britain’s reggae dance-halls., driven by an unsinkable passion for the music which first took a hold of him as a schoolboy in the early ’60s. 🇯🇲

His break as a DJ came in the form of a job on Radio London in 1978, hosting 'Reggae Rockers'. A year later he was offered a permanent slot at Capital Radio presenting Roots Rockers, which ran for 11 years. 💪

One of the defining characteristics of Rodigan as a DJ is his formidable record in the world of sound-clashes. His respect and status as a selector has taken him around the globe, clashing with Killamanjaro, Stone Love, Barry G, Bass Odyssey, Boy Better Know, A$AP Mob and many many more. ⚔️

Our recent survey yielded pretty conclusive results. 📊

For a venue of our size, we like to think that we do a pretty good job of punching above our weight, managing to bring some surprisingly big touring musicians and groups to little old Stroud. 💪

When it comes to booking larger artists, one scenario that often arises is The Sub Rooms being added to a tour route as a stop between other shows, which can result in midweek dates. 🗓️

This got us thinking, so we decided to put the question to our mailing list subscribers to find out once and for all: which are the best and worst days of the week to see a gig? 🤔

For this month's edition, Jam's Jam arrives on Saturday. 🎷🎸🎤

Usually taking place on a Thursday, a busy June schedule at The Sub Rooms means that Stroud's premier open mic & jam night is set to fill the ballroom with collaborative song this weekend coming. ✨

Entry is free, as always, and the music gets going at 7pm and rolls through till late. The atmosphere is always buzzing and we love to see faces, new and old, taking part or just vibing out. Roll on Saturday night! 🍀

The Big Art Show is Open! ✨

It is our pleasure to host this fantastic exhibition, presented in conjunction with SITE Festival 2026, featuring the works of eight extraordinary, artists based around Gloucestershire. 🖌️

Curated by Vanessa Clemente Vincerò and featuring the works of Liz Boyce, Nancy Grayley, Sarah Granville and more - the breadth of style and subject on display here is vast. 🖼️

The exhibition will be running through the coming week, to the 21st of June. Make sure to come in and check out some of this breathtaking work. 👈

4 Months to go until Le Vent du Nord visit Stroud and we can't wait!

On the 1st of October, the Quebecois Quintet at the forefront of the Folk scene is bringing the sound of the Hurdygurdy, Bazouki, Fiddle and Mandolin to the Sub Rooms. 🎻

Le Vent Du Nord have played over 2,500 shows, released 13 albums, and received numerous prestigious international awards including Artists of the year at Folk Alliance International & Canadian Folk Music Awards, two JUNO Awards, a BABELMED/Mundial Montréal Prix Pont Transatlantique and a Songlines Music Awards. 🏆

Rob Newman is on his way back to Stroud in September. 🎤

He's a comedian who is known and loved up and down the British isles, for the razor sharp wit which he so deftly uses to dissect the paradigms of modern life - uncovering the humour within. 😂

The Sub Rooms has been fortunate enough to welcome Rob onto our ballroom stage before, where he treated the audience in attendance to a stand-up masterclass. 🥼
