Although I focus on choirs here - as a conductor I also enjoy conducting a variety of other ensembles, including the occasional brass band. Today I enjoyed a lovely rendition of ‘Cavatina’ (She was beautiful) by Gloucester Excelsior Band. It was beautifully performed with space and movement and sensitivity. This is a song not heard so much these days - and it is a song I am currently working on with Bristol Male Voice Choir with a view to take it out for our first public spin next Saturday at a joint concert with The Caldicot Male Voice Choir.
