👋My name is Elena G. and I’m a Romanian illustrator based in Cardiff, Uk 🇷🇴🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 My illustration is inspired by my cultural background, as well as current society and nature elements.

Wanted to share my journey with you today. This is a very condensed look at 10 years of becoming an artist (2010 -2020). Of course, I was drawing and painting before this but these really mark the moments where I felt like I was succeeding at finding my style and forging my path.
I wanted to share this as it doesn't necessarily show my best work, and I wouldn't necessarily use this as a portfolio, but hopefully, it could encourage others at any stage of their journey. It is fun, exciting and challenging but definitely worth it!

All artists will know that painting isn't what necessarily keeps the bills paid, so today I would like to share some of the places that I work for.
1. Lansdown Hall & Gallery, Stroud
Started volunteering in the Gallery, then helped with publicity, event running, bar, and lots of other things. I adore the building which is why I picked a historic photo, such an honour to have looked after it in a small way.
2. Atlantic Games, Stroud
Cos I am also a lot of a nerd. Great to mix your hobby with work very happy to be a part of their team ❤️
3. Patsy Freeman - In Search of You - letters to a daughter
We have worked together through lockdown to make videos. I have been offering 1-to-1 online tutorials to help people stay in contact with people and Patsy's videos are to help people relief stress and connect their mind, body and spirit! With her book available soon we will also be working together to design publicity for her book!
4. Stroud Film Festival
Pre lockdown I began volunteering with SFF to gain more design experience. during lockdown I have been keeping their website up-to-date with lots of the events that we have been able to do online! Including a "Let's Talk Directing with Marc Jobst" happening on the 24th June 8pm (free tickets available from www.stroudfilmfestival.org)
5. England Uncovered
Fantastic tour guide, based in Stroud. I designed some leaflets for Steve pre-lockdown. History buffs should definitely have a look at is feeds, lots of interesting posts there!
6. Wigwam Toys, Brighton
This is an honourable mention cos I haven't worked there in a while but they are wonderful and lovely and should definitely get some love!

Today I am giving the ADSociety a little view of my studio, more information below.

"I thought I would share my workspace with you today! It's a spare room in our little flat that I share with and his sculptures, as well as my bike and any guests that don't want to sleep in our living room with our two nocturnal cats...
My space is filled with wonderful things that belonged to my late Grandad, and last night a friend asked me what my family had kept of his, so I thought I'd take a picture of where I work, because it's filled with memories of him. I'm not sure I'd have become an artist without his encouragement and influence, and I spent a lot of time in his studio or sea swimming, talking about art and things that we loved and believed in. All of his grandchildren share these memories, and I feel so lucky to have some of them of my own, as well as a lot of his incredible art equipment.
He wasn't a perfect human, but he was a good man. He believed in justice and goodness, and I don't think anyone left an encounter with him without a lecture on one topic or another ringing in their ears! He gave everyone a task for his funeral before he passed, and mine was:
"Tell them all I loved them, but don't let any of them forget, I was a s**t."
I guess what I'm trying to say is thank you to my family for all their support, thank you to for sharing this space with me and all of Grandad's art gear. It's like being able to continuing the conversation with him, I still play classical music or Moby while working. I can hear him enthusiastically encouraging and challenging me everyday when I paint and I hope to always do him and my family proud"

Hello followers! Behind the scenes we are all working on projects for the Anti-Detachment Society, lots of exciting creative things happening 😀
While we patiently wait for those announcements we thought we would give our artists an opportunity to introduce themselves! We will be taking over the ADSociety social media and showing you some of our personal projects! I will be starting us off this week, it is very nice to meet you all Jessy Plant Art here!
Throughout the week I will be introducing you to my practice, offering a tour of my studio space and might even do a Q&A session on our Stories!

Wow! 🎉We want to say a huge thank you to all the lovely people who donated to our Portraits For PPE fundraiser, as well as everyone who liked and shared our posts. Together we raised an incredible ✨£1231✨! All money raised went to Masks 4 NHS Heroes 🥼
Your generosity has provided gloves , face masks, gowns and visors to hospitals, care homes, ambulances and hospices. This PPE is so vital to ensuring healthcare workers and those they care for stay safe during this pandemic. We can’t thank you enough. 👏🏼 We’ve drawn an approximate of 80 portraits so far, and are very nearly finished. We’re super proud of what we’ve achieved together and are already planning our next projects! Watch this space 👩‍🎨
