🦋 The Flutterby 🦋

There’s something so special about butterflies.

They’re often seen as a little reminder of someone we’ve lost, appearing unexpectedly, just when we’re thinking of them. A tiny moment that makes us stop and wonder … was that you?

The Flutterby Pendant was created with that sentiment in mind.

One wing can hold a precious inclusion, ashes, hair or fur, carefully preserved in your chosen colour, creating a piece that is completely personal to you.

A beautiful little butterfly, carrying a tiny part of someone you love.

Because sometimes the smallest things can hold the biggest memories.

Handcrafted with care at Memory Within.

International Dog Day 2026

There’s something very special about dogs.

They don’t care what kind of day you’ve had, what you look like, how much money you have, or whether you’ve achieved everything on your to-do list.

They’re just happy that you came home.

They’re the muddy footprints across the kitchen floor, the warm body curled up beside you on the sofa, the hopeful eyes watching every mouthful you eat (Every. Single. One.) and somehow, without us really noticing when it happens, they become part of the family.

Working in memorial jewellery means I’m very aware of just how much these little (and sometimes not-so-little!) souls mean to us.

I’ve been trusted with paw prints, nose prints, fur and ashes from some very much-loved dogs over the years, and behind every single one is a story, a personality and a family who adored them.

So for International Dog Day, I’d love to see the dogs who have a piece of your heart.

Whether they’re still causing chaos beside you or are now remembered with love, pop a photo of them in the comments and tell me their name - Let’s celebrate the furry canine members of our family.

I’ll start with Daisy & Poppy, my little shadows.

There are some people who somehow feel as though they’ve always been there.

Dolly Parton was one of them.

For more than six decades she brought music, laughter and warmth into millions of lives, but perhaps what made her so loved went far beyond the songs.

It was her kindness. Her humour. Her generosity. Her ability to make people feel that being exactly who you are is something to be proud of.

Today, so many people are grieving someone they never actually met. I think that reminds us of something important about grief.

We don’t have to have known someone personally for their life to have touched ours.

A song can take us straight back to a person, a place or a moment. A familiar voice can become woven into decades of memories and when that voice is suddenly gone, the sadness can be very real.

I love these words from Donna Ashworth:

“When someone larger than life leaves this earth I think all our lives have to get a little bit larger in their honour.”

What a lovely way to think about legacy.

Take a little of what you loved about someone and carry it forward.

Be a little kinder.
Laugh a little louder.
Love people well.
Be unapologetically yourself.

Be more Dolly.

Rest peacefully, Dolly Parton.

There are some little details you never want to forget.

The shape of their nose, their little toebeans and paw pads. The tiny lines and markings that made it completely, unmistakably theirs.

A nose print or a pawprint, can be transformed into a beautiful piece of jewellery you can carry with you every day, just like this one, engraved onto our sterling silver charm and added to our Bead Slider Bracelet.

You don’t need to part with the original print.

Simply take a clear photograph or scan of it and email it over to us. We carefully prepare the image for engraving, while the precious original stays safely with you.

A tiny print.
A very big piece of them.

NATIONAL RAINBOW BABY DAY 2026

A rainbow baby is hope after heartbreak,
a little light after the storm.
Loved not instead of the baby before,
but alongside them, forevermore.

One held safely in our arms,
one carried always in our hearts —
two precious lives, two endless loves,
never truly far apart.

This is something very close to our hearts at Memory Within.

No family should have to leave hospital after the loss of their baby feeling as though they have nowhere to turn and no support to help them through the days, weeks and months that follow.

We’re incredibly proud to support our friends at Baby Loss Retreat and the work they do for bereaved families. Erin’s Retreat would provide something so desperately needed - a safe, compassionate space for families at a time when their world has changed forever.

If you can spare just a few moments, please sign the petition below and share it. Every signature helps to show just how much this support is needed.

Please help us get behind Baby Loss Retreat and make Erin’s Retreat a reality.

Luna Memorial Stud Earrings

Sometimes, the smallest pieces can hold the most meaning.

Our Luna Stud Earrings are handcrafted in sterling silver and carefully set with your loved one’s ashes, hair or fur, creating a beautifully subtle keepsake that can be worn every day.

They don’t immediately look like memorial jewellery - and for many of our families, that’s exactly what they love about them.

Just a quiet little reminder. Something precious that’s yours to understand.
A way of keeping them close to you wherever the day takes you.

Come and meet us at Holmsford Bridge Crematorium

We’re delighted to be joining our friends over at Holmsford Bridge Crematorium for their Community Open Day on Saturday 15th August, from 10am - 3pm.

We’ll be there with a selection of Memory Within memorial jewellery, so you can see our pieces in person, have a chat about how memorial jewellery is made, and ask any questions you may have about incorporating ashes, hair, or fur inclusions into a piece.

There’ll also be local funeral directors, celebrants and other organisations there, guided tours of the beautiful facilities and gardens, and stalls for all the family.

The day is also raising funds for NODA Ayrshire (No-One Dies Alone), supporting people facing bereavement within the local community.

If you’re nearby, come along and say hello! We’d love to meet you.

Holmsford Bridge Crematorium, Dreghorn, North Ayrshire, KA11 4EF.

Seven years ago today, my life changed forever.

27th July 2019 was the day my brain broke.

One moment I was simply living my life, making plans and taking tomorrow for granted. The next, I was learning how fragile everything really is.

A stroke doesn’t just affect your body. It changes the way you see the world. It steals certainty. It steals confidence. Sometimes it steals parts of the person you once were. There has been grief for the old me, frustration for everything that became difficult, and moments when I wondered whether I’d ever truly feel like myself again.

Recovery isn’t a straight line. It’s messy, exhausting and often invisible to everyone else. Some days I’ve felt strong, and other days I’ve felt like I’ve taken ten steps backwards.

Life isn’t about waiting until everything is perfect again. It’s about learning to find joy in the version of life you have today. It’s celebrating the things other people barely notice. It’s discovering strength you never wanted to need, and gratitude you never knew existed.

If someone had told me back then that one day I’d build a business helping other people preserve precious memories, I wouldn’t have believed them. Yet Memory Within exists because of what happened to me. Something beautiful grew from the darkest days of my life.

I still have difficult days. My brain still reminds me that it was injured. But it also reminds me how incredibly lucky I am to still be here.

So today isn’t about celebrating the stroke.

It’s about celebrating survival.
Celebrating resilience.
Celebrating second chances.

Because seven years ago my brain broke…

…but my spirit didn’t.
