It’s always a privilege to be trusted with something so precious to make that everlasting memory.

A little keepsake, that can mean oh so much ❤️

To those without outstanding orders or who are due invoices, I apologise. Summer holidays are hard work and down time is nearly non existent. I’m still here, I’m still working when I can as well as being the main entertainment/ chef/ cleaner/ nurse etc etc…

More sustainable gardening?

As well as the flowers, I have a small hand built vegetable patch in our garden. In previous years, my broccoli has never managed to survive as it’s been ravished by slugs. This year, I’m trying something a little different. In late spring/ early summer, we shear our sheep (clip their wool off) to keep them cooler and more comfortable in the warmer months. The wool is essentially a byproduct and would normally be sold for pennies per fleece. So this year, I’ve decided to try and use it for a more effective use. I’ve wrapped my broccoli and sweetcorn in a layer of the wool, keeping them warm when the temperatures drop and to help retain moisture. Hopefully the texture of the wool will keep the slugs away too!

What’s your top veg garden tip or trick?

Sweet pea success!

Growing sweet peas from seeds can take up a lot of room. So this year I embraced the roly-poly method and it works so well; just look at those little plants ready for planting on!

So how does it work? I used a section of old compost bag and spread a thin layer of compost. Equally space your seeds along the length of the bag and then tightly roll. Secure with string/ bands (I used cable Tues because that’s all I had to hand) and then water from the bottom.

A space saver and easy way to bring on small plants or seeds. I’m going to give it a go with my brussel sprouts and broccoli next.

It’s almost here. What’s your plans for this Easter weekend?

The before and after on this flower bed isn’t perfect, but it’s a massive improvement!
This is one of my wildflower beds that, after last year, I left the wildflowers I didn’t pick and press to die back and do its thing. I then proceeded to ignore it 🙈 my bad! It was overrun with creeping buttercup and dandelions, but after an afternoon with my trusty claw gloves and fork, it’s looking ready for wildflower seeds.
The beauty about wildflowers is that they thrive on neglect and don’t care too much about soil quality. This bed will be full of colour in a few weeks and I can finally get back to doing what I love 🫶🏻
