Some photos from our opening evening for our Summer Exhibition currently being held at Portpatrick Community Hub. As you can see, there is a wide and varied display of wonderful art pieces. The exhibition runs until Monday 31st August, 10am-5pm.

An air of suppressed excitement and anticipation was apparent at Creative Hub Stranraer yesterday. Why? The inaugural workshop, led by Colin Macleod, using the newly acquired Gesteter printing press was about to take place.

And what a great afternoon everyone had! Total concentration from the Sea Pyot Art group members who were taking part. Absolute beginners and accomplished printmakers alike all left satisfied and delighted with the piece of work they had produced. Will there be more workshops? They all hope so!

In just over three weeks, five artists from the Rhins of Galloway will be exhibiting in Drummore, in the Kirkmaiden Community Hub on Mill Street. There will be paintings, illustrations, felt art, turned wood, silver jewellery and textiles on display and for sale. We will be there from 16th to 22nd August, so please come by and visit us. We would love to see you 💜

EXCITING NEWS!

🏵🌼 We are absolutely delighted to announce Wigtownshire Artists and Makers SUMMER EXHIBITION 🌼🏵️

Our inaugural exhibition will be held in Kirkcudbright's historic Harbour Cottage Gallery in July, and will feature the work of ten of our members.

This exhibition is a celebration of the flourishing creative energy alive in Wigtownshire, with new art inspired by environment, heritage and fresh perspectives.

On display will be a rich and diverse collection of paintings, printmaking, and textile art.

Entry is free and all are welcome.

Sea Pyot Arts group, in conjunction with Stranraer Open Book, Creative Stranraer Songwriters and Write On! Creative Writing Group, is delighted to announce the showing of Fusions 2, a collaborative exhibition of writings and images by local scribes and artists.

The exhibition follows on last year’s extremely successful Fusions: the inspiration of Port William artist member Liz Perry, which was a first venture into collaborative working for both disciplines. Then, the writers produced pieces of work which were randomly allocated to members of the Sea Pyot Arts group who interpreted the writings in visual images. Language and image came together beautifully!

This year, things have been given a different twist with the artists’ work providing the inspiration for writers and again, the work being allocated randomly for interpretation. The theme suggested to the artists by curator Jeni Grover, was ‘The Journey’. Some surprises will be in store!

The exhibition is being held in the Creative Stranraer Hub, King St, Stranraer (the building with the mural). It opens to the public on Saturday 13th June and closes on Sunday 21st June, is open daily between 10am and 4pm and admission is free.

Join us for a celebration of creativity, community and coastal stories.

Over the past eight months, Creative Stranraer has been delivering Shorelines - a project rooted in coastal identity, pride and belonging. As the programme draws to a close, we’re bringing people together for a day of local creativity, activities and performances for all ages.

This community celebration will feature local artists, organisations and creative groups including SCAMP, Wigtownshire Stuff, the Climate Hub, DMC and Upland.
