Stella Gilmartin brings you on an unforgettable journey with her ethereal and powerful work 🖼️

✨strongly grounded in her surroundings, unconsciously influenced by the ever-changing landscapes of Strangford Co Down and the Fanad Peninsula, Co Donegal, landscapes serve as a point of departure, a place for exploring the deeper currents of emotions and experience. ✨The shifting tides, seascapes, landscapes and seasons permeate the work.
✨ painting without intent, intrigued by the colour, movement, complexity, order and disorder as it presents itself.
✨ primarily using oil and cold wax as medium for its natural colour, richness and softness. Ultimately the artistic vision is to create a visceral experience where viewers find interest in exploring themselves and their landscapes and environment at a closer level.

The beautiful work of Sian Ross 🖼️👩‍🎨
✨With a background in Industrial Design from Manchester School of Art, Sîan Ross's practice explores colour, movement and energy through simplified forms and bold compositions.
✨Working primarily in acrylic on board, the paintings balance structure with spontaneity, and the freedom of gestural mark-making.
✨The work is driven by an attraction to action, rhythm and humour — Figures are often reduced to essential shapes and movements, allowing colour and composition to carry emotion.
✨Flat planes of colour, dynamic arrangements and simplified silhouettes create works that feel immediate, animated and accessible.

The work of Frieda Wightman is evocative and stand alone.
✨ her paintings explore the shifting atmosphere of Strangford lough, through dark, moody semi- abstract landscapes, rendered in oil paint.
✨Working intuitively with layers of texture and a muted palette she is drawn to the tension between land, water and weather.
✨ Places where visibility dissolves and emotion takes over Inviting the viewer to experience the landscape emotionally rather than geographically.
Frieda is exhibiting EQUINOX at Down Arts Centre opening 24th September. 🖼️👩‍🎨🫶✨
