End of our first Saturday back at NDA 🤍
I feel like I just want to be really honest for a minute.
This summer I completely switched off. I stepped back and reassessed my outlook on life. I think I really needed to stop for a minute and just breathe.
And honestly, throughout the summer I questioned whether I’m actually dedicated enough to have a business like this.
I see other dance schools doing their absolute MOST over the summer and I just didn’t have the energy to do the same. And for a while, that made me feel like maybe I wasn’t doing enough.
As a full-time Year 6 teacher, I give everything I have to my children at school and then at NDA and give everything I have here too.
I know I’m not the most present on social media. I don’t constantly post. I don’t always shout about what we’re doing. Sometimes I’m probably far too quiet for a business 😂
But today, being back in the reality of it all, I realised something.
The things that make NDA special to me have absolutely nothing to do with any of that!
I care about these children - with my whole heart. I care about getting to know them. I care about their wellbeing. I care about the little conversations they have with me, the friendships they make, the confidence they build and the memories we make together.
I want them to feel safe with me. I want them to know that they can come into dance class and laugh, cry, be silly, have a rubbish day, have the best time and just be completely themselves.
I love and nurture these children like they are my own. And actually, I think I do the exact same thing with my children at school. I get to know them, adore them, support them and hopefully leave a little lasting impact on their lives.
And that is what I want to do at NDA too.
I don’t want to just teach them dance and send them home.
I want to be another adult in their lives that they know they can lean on. I want NDA to be somewhere they feel they belong. Somewhere they feel loved, supported and safe.
Because NDA was never created to just for children to be another number or just a name on a register.
It’s so much more than that to me.
It’s the relationships. The friendships. The hugs. The silly moments. The tears. The laughter. Watching them grow and watching their little personalities come out more and more.
And I think today I realised that what we are continuing to build here is far more special than just a dance school.
So maybe I don’t need to be doing the absolute most all the time.
Maybe being there, caring, nurturing and loving these children with my whole heart is enough.
And I’m really proud of what we are building. 🤍
Here’s to another year at NDA. 🫶🏼
