DJ Toomz ( Adam Tombs) affair with jungle DnB started in 1996 when he was 11 years old in a dance tent at a local festival in his home town of Stourbidge, shortly after that a reco
rd shop opened up called 'Just Flexin Records' ran by no other than Aries(dread) Benny D (Co-lab) and lifted event orginizer Daz-E, Toomz felt a type of belonging to this music and with his birthday money bought some old decks of a mobile DJ and would spend all his pocket money on vinyl from the shop and spend all his time playing them to the annoyance of his family and neighbours, it's was also about this time that one of his brothers friends left an hysteria and dreamscape tape pack at his house and some of the tapes got lost. Toomz loved the rave scene at only 12 years old! He used to go to school with an earphone sticking out the neck of his school shirt and would listen while he did his work. By the age of 15 Lots of practicing and a few pairs of decks later Toomz decided to get into the whole promoting side and as a relative managed a local venue (Stourbidge football club bar) Toomz decided to cheekily used his schools computers and printers and do flyers and posters and put them up and give them out round school (alcohol was not advertised but was sold anyway) SLAMMERZ was born!The night was a profitable success but of course came with an obligatory fight and drunken teenagers! It was round this time he was given his first set by an artist called PONDER !( who also did the filming for flash back). Toomz was on the flyer with oldskool don DJ NEXUS, BENNY D and DJ JINX (lionfire) Toomz played regularly at this night and being only 16 was a big achievement for him. "reload records" This is where Toomz met MC BLAST & DJ BURNS (oThe Force) alongside many other people I.e Nerka(RIP), Jpm,Andy F, Gre to name a few.Also he was to meet DJ GOLD (lionfire) and was introduced to Pirate radio HOT 92.0 or passion fm which opperated out the old STING FM bunker! Toomz was a regular face on the scene in nights such as House of God, Atomic Jam and Flash back.Toomz now had been buying his tunes from Tempest records Birmingham . This is where he met DJ SUBDUE. By the age of 21 and a load of local sets under his belt Toomz met DJ ALPHA & DJ ESCAPE while on holiday @ INNOVATION IN THE SUN thease two dj's are and still some of Birmingham's hottest up coming DJs, played for Toomz @ different local events he promoted and helped with and too booked Toomz for the Birmingham events.. It was also this time when a local up an coming Dj and friend Dj laze had linked up with another dj dash and started an event in the back room of a pub this event Was HIGH VOLTAGE! seeing the potential in the night Toomz knew of a better venue and being driven by the successful local events in the past he asked dash if he would like to link up and the two became partners. HIGH VOLTAGE was a success from the first night powered by the SECTION 18 sound system it was and still is the biggest on going night it the town of Stourbidge
One of the first big name booking was in the up and coming room @ the custard factory for the city festival and the room was hosted by HYSTERIA ACADEMY the very name on the tapes that had inspired Toomz in the first place!! HIGH VOLTAGE with our ever growing crowd of like minded people brings you a music event that you know you want to go to. Currently in our 8th year we have progressively built a good reputation and following giving an element to stourbridge that you won't find in the other bars and clubs in the town or wherever we touch down!!!!!
