Our community group has been running for 15 years in and around Aberdeen with a membership of.. ooooh many (over the years). Level 1 - 17.45 - 19.15 - drum hire available

This page is really just a front page for those external to the group and for people to find us. The rhythms we work

on are from West Africa, incorporating rhythms from the Manding tradition and also from Casamance, with some other non-traditional bits and bobs thrown in. To the best of our ability we will share some cultural understanding of the rhythms we play. We try to inspire our students to broaden their studies by attending workshops with some of the wonderful teachers we have available to us here in the UK such as Iya Sako, Seckou Keita, Sidiki Dembele, Mocoulou Sawane, Hans Sutton, and many other fantastic teachers worldwide. Guigui and Magi have been teaching with Drummin' Aboot for around 15 years. We have travelled to West Africa and studied with various teachers based both in West Africa, here in the UK, the USA, Spain, France, Belgium. We have run various workshops over the years for different levels of players. We are students like everyone else and make this very clear to our group... we continue to work hard to improve our playing and broaden our understanding of this highly complex music - the road is long... and beautiful. We prepare the group for performances and are available to play at events on request. New weekly drumming class! If you’ve been wanting to learn or improve your djembe playing and can spare an hour a week, this could be the class for you.. starting soon.

This new weekly session aims to be get your hands moving in flow over the drum in the groove.

I have nearly 20 years teaching experience with this type of playing and will show you all I can to make your journey on the drum more fun and straightforward. Ages 14+ .. if you don’t have a drum I have a couple I can rent out. Booking essential.
