π·β¨ Meet the Team Tuesday β Tiny Tim β¨π·
This week we'd like to introduce one of the smallest members of the Grains Farm family... Tiny Tim!
Tiny Tim is one of the piglets from our March litter, and although he may be tiny, he has a huge personality and an even bigger fighting spirit. πͺ
From the day he was born, Tiny Tim was always the smallest of the litter. While his brothers and sisters seemed to grow overnight, he remained our little pocket-sized piglet. But what he lacked in size, he more than made up for in determination! He never let the bigger piglets push him aside and was always first at the gate when it was feeding time.
At just 12 weeks old, Tiny Tim has already overcome more challenges than many animals face in a lifetime. When he was only 3 weeks old, he developed an infection and we feared the worst, but he battled through and showed us just how resilient he could be.
As the weeks went on, we became concerned that he wasn't growing like the rest of the litter, so he was given some extra rations to help him along. During our Family Fun Day in May, while the other piglets were racing around the field greeting visitors and searching for treats, Tiny Tim simply couldn't keep up and needed a little quiet time to rest. Thankfully, by that evening he was back out with his family where he belonged.
When it came time for weaning, Tiny Tim stayed with mum for an extra week so he could enjoy a few more nutrients and all the milk he could drink. Even then, the transition wasn't easy. The stress of weaning led to another infection, this time affecting his skin, and he needed baths, plenty of TLC, and a week of antibiotic injections.
Last week brought another challenge when his wee piglet friend sadly had to be put to sleep unexpectedly. We worried about what would be best for Tiny Tim, and eventually decided it was time for him to rejoin Donna, Doris and dad Ginger in the field.
I'll admit, I was nervous. Tiny Tim is still so small compared to the big pigs, and he'd been separated for a while. But I needn't have worried. They welcomed him straight back into the family, and the four of them are now happily spending their days together.
Tiny Tim has captured the hearts of so many visitors already, and every day he reminds us that being the smallest doesn't stop you from being the mightiest. β€οΈ
If you're visiting the farm soon, keep an eye out for Tiny Tim and his family in the pig field. Just be warned... with the grass growing so quickly, it's currently taller than he is, so spotting him can be a bit of a challenge! π±π·
Have you met Tiny Tim yet? Let us know in the comments! π
