We've just completed our series of Careers Assemblies for 2026! 🌟Celebrating our Inspiring Heritage Journey in Local Schools 🎭

Over the last few months, we’ve loved visiting local schools to deliver our free Careers sessions. Meg has shared the incredible story of Reginald Mitchell – the visionary who designed the Spitfire.... it was his ambition and legacy which eventually led to the building of our venue, The Mitchell Arts Centre (Mitchell Memorial Theatre).

Just as Mitchell shaped history, we continue to help young people see how they too, can shape their own futures..... It’s been brilliant to see the children in our local area connect with local history in a way that sparks confidence, curiosity and big dreams for the future!

Thank you to every school who welcomed us in — what a brilliant journey!!!!!!

If your child's school held an assembly, schools should have shared a special card / code with you, which you can use against our Tots and Family films during the school summer holidays :) But be quick, it expires on 31st August, so take the opportunity over the summer to use it!!!!

Dust off your neon gear and leg warmers for the ultimate summer holiday dance experience. This high-energy workshop brings back the absolute best school disco anthems with fresh, fun choreography. Get Ready To Glow! Glow Wands will be used to take the choreography to the next level!

FIRST FLIGHT OF THE SPITFIRE 1936 - 90th ANNIVERSARY
Presented by Staffordshire Film Archive

This is the story of Reginald Mitchell’s ultimate achievement in his outstanding career as aircraft designer - the iconic SPITFIRE - possibly the most famous fighter plane of all time and certainly the most successful. More Spitfires were built than any other fighter plane, and it was the only plane to remain in production before, during and after WWII.
Reginald Joseph Mitchell CBE was already famous for designing the seaplanes which won Britain the Schneider Trophy in 1931 and held the World Speed record for the fastest planes in history.
Actor TIM CHURCHILL talks to us as RJ and movingly tells us in Mitchell’sown words how he achieved the greatest aircraft design of his time. Contemporary news reports, archive illustrations and film and Mitchell’s own personal correspondence and diary entries are brought to life to give this true "inside story” - as we celebrate the first official flight of the Spitfire 90 years ago.
