The pandemic decimated the arts and we want to do our bit to offer opportunities to rebuild and contribute to the cultural landscape of

Staffordshire. We are keen to push the boundaries of how we use outdoor spaces, and what they can teach us about art and ourselves.

In September 2021 we welcomed the start of a rich and varied programme of artistic activities and performances such as theatre, music, art, scratch nights, workshops and much more. In just under 4 weeks, Bolton Gate Arts will be bursting with amazing makers, delicious treats, handmade treasures & cosy Autumn vibes 🛍️✨

Jacqui B Ceramics
I create small-batch ceramics inspired by nature, quiet moments, and everyday rituals. Each piece is hand-painted in my Stoke-on-Trent studio.

Grandpa's Shed
Wooden items made from mainly reclaimed/pallet wood for the home and garden.

Wonky Crafts
I make unique hand crafted journals and notebooks. Commissions also undertaken to your specifications (within reason!)

Victoria Platt - The Animal Sketcher
I create bespoke pet and wildlife portraits from photographs, priding myself in detailed and realistic artworks.

5 years of Bolton Gate Arts! ❤️

Today marks 5 years since we opened our doors (or gates) back on 4th September 2021 with Creative Countryside, and honestly, we can’t quite believe it.

When we started, we were two theatre people with a dream of creating an outdoor theatre space. Five years later, a lot has changed (and not just Joe's hair getting shorter and Emma's getting more colourful)!

That dream has evolved into something much bigger, a multidisciplinary community arts venue, our own dedicated space, the Manege Outdoor Arts Space, and a community that we absolutely love being part of.

It hasn’t always been easy. Funding is tough, a lot of our time is given for free, events don’t always go to plan, and we’ve definitely had to learn how to work together! 😂 (Emma talks more when she’s stressed. Joe needs silence. Coffee helps.)

But it’s so worth it.

We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve built, but even more proud of the community around us. Supportive, generous, a little bit bonkers and willing to give everything a go! ❤️

Thank you to our amazing volunteers, families, partners, artists, funders, advisory board, friends and everyone who has walked through our gate over the last five years.

You’ve helped make Bolton Gate Arts what it is, a place where we hope people feel inspired, happy and like they belong.
