The last sponge filter ready to go is the smaller one one!

Although more suitable for a small tank this one has been seeding continuously for about 1 year now‼️ so it will be a great kick starter for a new set up !

All the other sponge filters have just gone in and will be seeding/cycling for at least 5 weeks so will be ready close to end of march!

Java Moss is doing really well and growing healthy! Update on the next lot of carpets coming soon + a few images from the process!

Adding airstones is not very hard and they make such a difference as they reduce the sound and give loads of bubbles which helps with surface agitation.

Seeded/cycled sponge filters are the best way of using already established media to kick start a new set up tank.

These things are absolutely loaded with beneficial bacteria which helps break down dangerous amonia in the fish tank!

After 2 weeks of battling an outbreak of green algae my tanks are recovering well and almost back on track.

I've got another batch of XXL sponge filters(2 big ones a small one and a double one) that are ready to go being in the tank for about 6 weeks now! With airstones fitted and seeded with bacterial colonies.

Java moss carpets are recovering well and have not seen any green algae for 2 days with loads of new growth they should be ready in the next 2 weeks. This lot is massive i have about 20 pieces.

If you saw the 🐌 with the carpets don't worry it s a nerite(only breeds in brackish water) he s only there to help clean up along side with loads of shrimps.

Happy New year everyone!
Back from a 2 week holiday and currently battling a green hair algae outbreak because of a spike of nutrients in the tanks(lost 2 fish).Java moss carpets are recovering well and seeing new growth already but far from being ready to go.
Sponge filters added at the beginning of dec are fine and seeding still.
Will post an update in the next few days but for now is loads of water changes(to help get rid of extra nutrients) and close monitoring of the tanks!

Java moss growing really well, can't wait to lay it down on steel mesh and have some beautiful carpet pieces‼️

💥 This 38 liter is absolutely full of it and also have another 30 liter with more moss‼️

Also been playing around in the tank trying to find a way to increase the real estate and grow more carpet pieces.

Have a look at the 'shelf' in the tank and let me know what you think‼️

🔵 Just got some more XXL sponge filters!

🔵 Going to start working on them and add airstones and they will be good to go in the tank‼️

🔵 Still the best way to start a new tank is using cycled/seeded media whether your in a fish in cycle or want to boost/kick start your tank these things are loaded with BB and will 100%help‼️

🔵 They can also be used in established tanks for more gas exchange(surface agitation) due to the air stones giving out loads of bubbles ‼️
