Are you passionate about gardening and love bringing people together? Wolviston Garden Society is looking for an enthusiastic, organized Programme Secretary to join our friendly committee and help shape our upcoming season!

What you’ll do:

Book guest speakers and experts for our monthly meetings.
Plan our calendar of events, including garden visits, shows, and social evenings.
Liaise with venues and ensure our speakers have everything they need for their presentations.

Approximately 3–4 hours per month, plus attending our regular committee and member meetings. We meet on the first Wednesday of the month.

Why join us?

This is a fantastic, voluntary role where you get to connect directly with top horticultural experts, choose the topics our club learns about, and play a vital part in keeping our gardening community thriving.

Tomorrow is 2nd September and that means that Wednesday Welcome is back after the Summer break.

Hoping to see all of our regulars and maybe some new faces. As usual we are open from 10am - 12.30pm so pop along, have a cuppa and a scone or whatever we are offering that day, chat with like minded people and maybe have a game of dominoes.

It's all free, all we ask for is donations to help cover the costs!

I maybe shouldn't say but ...... tomorrow there may be bacon buns!

Hope to see you all there!

On Saturday 29th August Wolviston Village Community Centre was the venue for the 1st Annual Vegetable and Flower Show. The event was organised in collaboration between the Allotment Holders Association and Wolviston Village Association.

To say that the event was an outstanding success would be an understatement. The quantity and quality of the exhibits astounded the organisers and even the judges. The prizes for the winning exhibits were presented by The Civic Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees Cllr Bob Cook.

Once the judges had deliberated and awarded the standings the event was opened to the public and the footfall was amazing throughout the afternoon.

Thanks must go to the organisers, the judges, the Mayor, the exhibitors and the public for making this a truly memorable first event. We are already planning for next year!

A special thanks to the girls from WVA Committee and associated volunteers who kept the kitchen running all day serving tea, coffee, bacon and sausage buns, curry and cakes,.

In addition to all of this the allotment guys ran a raffle and a substantial amount was raised for The Great North Air Ambulance Service.

All in all a great day and a prime example of collaboration to create a successful event to benefit the local Community and beyond.

These are just a few of the photos from the day, a gallery will shortly be created on our website wolvistonvillagehall.co.uk

We hope to see you there next year!

From the family of Wilf Hunter

It's with immense sadness that we share the passing of Wilf (Wilfred) Hunter on the Saturday 25th July, Dad was always surrounded by his family, that characterised his whole life. He will be forever missed by his family, wife Elaine of 60years, sons Tony (Antony) and Graham, daughter in laws and grandchildren.

If you would like to join us to celebrate Wilf's life, a service will be held at Maplewood Chapel, Stockton Crematorium (TS19 9NA), on 26 August at 2pm, followed by a gathering afterwards.

The family would also like to express their thanks to all the Carers, Nurses and Doctors for their incredible support during the last few months.

Just a reminder that the community centre is now open and Ali is there for you to pick up your unclaimed raffle prizes.

Don't forget that this Wednesday is 'Wednesday Welcome' Day! Come along and have a free cuppa, a snack and a chat with like-minded people! Have a game of dominoes or just chill and enjoy the company!

This week due to the hot weather (and the fact that we have a bit left over from the Village Fayre) there will be ice cream - and lollies if you would like to bring the little ones! All free!

It all starts at 10am on 8th July!

Ooooo - nearly forgot, come and see our new tables and chairs, all financed from last years events!

We look forward to seeing you!
