🤩 We’ll be informing those filmmakers that have been selected to be part of TVIFF 2026 this week and next!

🙏🏻 We received a record number of submissions this year and sadly we don’t have cinema time to screen all of the great films.

🏆 If you submitted but don’t receive a selection, please don’t be disappointed. It doesn’t mean your film wasn’t good. So please know that you’re doing great things. Don’t see it as a rejection, it’s simply one more step towards victory.

🤗 Sincere thanks to all that submitted this year. Film Festivals wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for talented, ambitious, hardworking, beautiful people like you.

📣 CASTING ANNOUNCEMENT! Please be upstanding for MITCHELL WILSON who has landed a part in our upcoming production THE HARTLEPOOLS BOMBARDED!

🎭 Originally from Middlesbrough, Mitchell is an actor who works across theatre, screen and digital platforms.

🏆 His stage work is extensive, having recently completed a national tour of ‘The BBC’s First Homosexual’ as well as also receiving a nomination for ‘Best Performer’ at the Oscar Wilde Awards this year.

🎭 Mitchell is currently in rehearsals to play a lead role in BUNDLED, a play that begins a run at the renowned Customs House theatre in South Shields next month.

🤩 On top of this, he is also a content creator amassing over 200,000 followers across TikTok and Instagram. Give him a follow at if you don’t already.

🇬🇧 As well as his broad experience and work ethic, it’s Mitchell’s exceptional range as an actor that makes him perfect to play the role of a World War One soldier trying to defend Hartlepool from German bombs on 16th December 1914.

📣 ATTENTION BUDDING WRITERS! Our friends at New Writing North are holding TWO free of charge script writing hubs, but places are limited and the deadline for application is but a few days away.

🎬 The Channel 4 Northern Talent Network Script Hubs take place in Newcastle and Darlington beginning in October. To apply, you should have some experience writing scripts or be practising in another form, such as fiction or poetry. The closing date for application is 1st September.

✍🏻 The hubs take place over a six-month period. Ten writers in each Script Hub collaborate on a series of peer group sessions and professional development workshops.

🤗 Each group is led by an experienced facilitator writer, with the workshops featuring guest writers, producers, and other broadcast professionals.

🎥 The Newcastle Script Hub, run by writer Rebecca Glendenning-Laycock, is for neurodivergent TV scriptwriters, and aims to be accessible and ND-friendly. These six sessions, held at One Strawberry Lane, will start on Saturday 10 October 2026.

🎭 The Darlington Script Hub, run by writer Gavin Williams, will focus on writing genre TV. These six sessions, held at the Darlington Hippodrome, will start on Saturday 3 October 2026.

🥳 Give it up for Beau Brockbank the newest member of the TVIFF Team!

🍿 Beau has attended TVIFF every year and wanted to get more involved so he could meet more like minded people in a happy environment. He feels it’ll really boost his confidence!

🤗 Beau is no stranger to culture and the arts in the Tees Valley. Earlier this year he took part in the Stockton International Riverside Festival carnival to promote Autism Matters, the support organisation that have a branch in Teesside.

💯 With all of these things in mind, we couldn’t wait to make Beau part of the family. Welcome aboard, Beau. New friends and great times are less than three months away!

🎥 More filming for THE HARTLEPOOLS BOMBARDED took place at Heugh Battery Museum this week!

🍿 The docu-drama that we’re producing for Forge Photography and Film Production Ltd tells the story of the 1914 bombardment of Hartlepool by three German battleships which saw the first death in battle on British soil since Culloden in 1746!

🇬🇧 This fascinating film will open TVIFF 2026 at ARC Stockton Arts Centre on 12th November and will feature a live interview and Q&A with the filmmakers and historians from Heugh Battery in Hartlepool.
