(Red) Sheffield isn't 'Wedged between the Pennines', it's East of the Pennines. Clearly written by someone with no knowledge of the area or UK geography.
(Blue) Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I'm guessing it's a poor translation that hasn't been checked by anyone fluent in English.

Batwing Forge Custom Knives and Antique Pipe Restoration? A few days ago I was given some old 'estate pipes' about 70-80 years old (at a guess). All needed some work doing to bring them back to their best, but one had a particularly badly oxidised Vulcanite stem. Overnight soak in bleach, and some sanding with 1K-10K abrasive got it back to how it should be again! :D

Almost finished the 'dry fitting', and shaping / finishing the front end of the handle scales. Next step is the messy one......Fixing the pieces into place using 3 brass pins, and 2 part epoxy resin.

More hand sanding today, and then an unexpected emergency job cropped up, with a requirement for a 1 inch wood chisel. Normally I'd just let the person borrow mine, I don't own one, so I made one. Currently in the tempering oven.

Now at the stage when I can move onto drilling the bog oak handle scales and the red and white Micarta liners. Once drilled I'll then shape and polish the front end of the handle (impossible once fitted in place), and then attach using 3 brass pins, and epoxy resin.

More hand sanding today, followed by the heat treatment involving a water quench of the Nakiri.

One of the many aspects I love about working with hot steel is the colour changes that occur as it heats up! First of all, at lower temperatures there are the colours that remain after cooling all connected to specific temperatures, but as it gets hotter and starts glowing, there is another series of colours that are specific to the temperature too!
