Our monthly meet-up, Poetry Corner by name,
Where every month is somehow never quite the same.
There were verses on love, tender and sweet,
Heartfelt rhymes with a delicate beat.

One poet explored the loss of body parts,
With startling imagery masquerading as art.
Another, delightfully meta, with no shame or coy,
Simply wrote a poem about Poetry Corner itself-oh joy.

Then John, with timing no one could outdo,
Placed his hand in Justin’s ear hole. True.
No metaphor hidden, no symbolism to mine,
Just a sentence that somehow still managed to rhyme.

We applauded, we laughed, we questioned our lives,
Wondering how such inspiration survives.
For that’s the magic of our monthly affair:
You never know what on earth you’ll hear there.
Thank you to our inimitable MC Anna Stevens and to everyone in attendance. See you all and anyone else in September; its free to attend and there’s no pressure to perform

A massive thank you to Ann Bukantas Paul Brownless, the driving force behind our monthly SPiN Vinyl Night. What started out as a simple evening of music has grown into something so much bigger- a genuine community and a group of friends that means the world to so many of us.
It’s incredible to think that out of bereavement, great things have brought people together in a way none of us could have imagined; creating friendships and a community that are truly special.

To top off an already epic night, we finished the evening with the fantastic news that Cllr Bev Craig had won the Manchester mayoral election. What a way to end a brilliant night!

Just a little shout-out to two of my four children .lock

Being a mum has always come before everything else in my life. Jason and I have built our little nuclear family together and for the most part we’ve managed on one wage while I stayed home to raise the children.
Now they’re all finding their own way in the adult world and it’s such a privilege to watch.
This weekend, for the first time, Reuben and Jed are coming together at our family-run cafe, art workshop space and bar to host an event. Reuben and his best mate, Oliver, will be facilitating, while Jared will be on the decks, warming up the crowd.

Seeing them collaborate, support one another and carve out their own paths fills me with so much pride. Moments like these remind me that all those years of putting family first were worth every second. Oh, and they’re also donating their profits to charity 🥹❤️You can find the link by following IGNOTUS
