Sunday we headed up to Buxton just with Casey and the Stoxkart and it was interesting 🙃🙃🙃🤣🤣
(Ruby was gallivanting down at Mildenhall🙄😂)

As she isn’t doing many meetings in the Stoxkart due to clashing fixtures with the V8s it makes the ones we do that extra special and Casey is really enjoying her time in them.👌🏻

Heat 1, she really got off and was driving the best she ever has until……………. It got a bit out of shape and she got a wobble on, got clipped by another car and over she went, onto her roof and landed on her side. She was absolutely fine and it never phased her one bit😂😂 back in the pits there was a few bent things to straighten and a bit of welding and she was good to go again.

🚨 Check the comments for the video 🚨

Heat 2, she was going well again but a few laps in another Kart drove into the side of her coming out of turn 4 and snapped the nerf rail and popped the rear left tyre 🙄😩

Final, It rained and she had never driven in the wet before so she very cautious but sensible, finished the race albeit at the tail end of the grid.

So she has got her first roll over out of the way and learned a lot more over the meeting.💪🏻 She has been in the garage all day today straightening her roof wing and front wing sides out which she has done a fantastic job of to be fair.👏🏻👏🏻
She can’t afford a new one being a poor university student🤣 and dad said he won’t buy her a new one as she will probably put it back on its roof again 😳😳🤬🤣🤣

That’s it for the Stoxkart for a couple of months now as all the meetings clash.

Ruby and Mike will be racing this coming weekend at Ipswich Saturday and Great Yarmouth Sunday. Nice little 600 mile round trip🫣

🥵🥵 Oh it was a hot one 🥵🥵
Skegness pairs weekend was a fantastic weekend from start to finish. We got down there early Saturday afternoon and just landed back home Tuesday afternoon.

Rubys new car is looking good, we had some teething problems as all new cars do and also the first time she had ever driven it was onto the track for heat 1 on Sunday 😳 She hadn’t even practiced in it.
Sunday was just bad luck with throttle linkage working loose, having to cut and alter the brake pedal between heats and then a puncture in the final. 9th and 10th in races finished

Monday we decided to alter the suspension and car heights etc which then meant we had to get the scales out and set it up again.

She didn’t finish heat 1 as it chucked the fan belt off but she finished the other 3 races and kept getting faster in each one the more she got used to the car. Shredded left rear tyre in GN.

Everything is different with this car to what she is used to especially the pedals and also she is finding it hard to get gears due to the gear selector location so we have a few alterations to do and a few more setup tweaks along with a new engine with a bit more power before our next meeting.

Mike had a steady run this weekend.
Saturday missed the heats as the clutch went, finished the final and GN.
Sunday had a DNF due to a right rear puncture and then also shredded a left rear in the GN.

Finally we have a weekend off racing this coming weekend😂😂
Then weekend after 7th June we are at Buxton with Casey in ten stoxkart and the weekend after 13th and 14th June we are at Ipswich and Yarmouth with just Ruby in the V8.

Here it is, Ruby’s brand new fancy tarmac special.

The decision was made at the end of last season that Dad was going to have Ruby’s tarmac car and Ruby would have a brand new car.

The original plan was to build the chassis ourselves but it was just too much work with how busy Dad was.😔 So we commissioned Kev Stutchbury to build us a rolling chassis.💪🏻💪🏻

We did originally plan to have it ready for the start of the season but with Kevs work commitments and other things, it come a little bit later. We collected the chassis 2 weeks ago and it feels like we haven’t left the garage since😩.

All jobs take time but some a little bit longer than they should with Dad because he’s so ocd with everything he does. I mean look at the brake lines and wiring🙄🙄
But i think you’ll agree, it shows in the final product! 👏🏻👏🏻

Ruby hasn’t even driven the car yet and we’ve just loaded it up for skegness. The first time she will drive it will be the rolling lap of heat one on Sunday. Let’s hope it goes round in circles and nothing falls off!!🏆

It absolutely wouldn’t be possible without everyone that helps at Lomax HQ including,
Dad (Mike), Ruby, Mum (Sam), Monkey, Paul&Paul and everyone else that’s helped us along the way, you have all been amazing.👌🏻👌🏻

Huge thanks as always you to all of our sponsors,

Also another huge thank you to Rob Barber at Arbee signs. And of course Ian Bannister for taking the amazing photos 📷

Let’s see in the comments what you all think. Obviously we are biased and think it’s the best looking V8 ever 😜😜😜

Skeggy weekend report. Bit late but wow we have had a busy week working on Rubys new Tarmac V8.

So Skeg weekend for 2 days with Casey in the Stoxkart and Ruby just Sunday in the F2.

We only decided to take the F2 last minute, Ruby hasn’t had any seat time in it since late last year and with no practice on the day it was straight out on track. Heat 1 she got tangled with another car and didn’t finish. She finished her other heat and GN but all day she just wasn’t quick enough, we need more seat time, Not sure when we will race the F2 again as we have a busy line up of fixtures with the V8s and Stoxkarts.

Stoxkarts. We really like this formula. The racing, the numbers, the community, it’s all great.👌🏻👌🏻
Casey really enjoyed both days of racing with it only her 2nd ever time on a track.
Sunday she decided to do the day of the back of the grid and finished all but 1 of her races.
Monday she decided it was time to remove the black cross and get off the front of the pack, She was terrified at the thought😂😂
She didn’t disappoint, started and finished all 4 races without crashing👏🏻😂👏🏻 getting faster and faster with each race, She is definitely learning how these things drive.👏🏻
She was very quiet on the journey home as she was absolutely knackered, it didn’t help that when we arrived home at 10pm Monday evening she then had to drive an hour back to her University accommodation as she had lectures first thing Tuesday morning😩😩 It hard this being a racing driver and a medical student 🤣🤣

A massive surprise for Casey on Monday was Darren Garwell from Eastcoast Stockcars photography turning up with a framed selection of photos of Casey from the night before 😳😳 He has done the same with Ruby through the different formulas she has raced at Skeg. Thank you Darren it is very much appreciated 🙏🏻

So nothing for us this weekend as we are cracking on with the new tarmac V8, We will see Mike and Ruby out next Sunday at Hednesford in the V8s and then the weekend after they will both be at Skegness again where we will debut the brand new car.👌🏻👌🏻

The girls are ready, the cars are ready. Racing starts at 1pm.💪🏻💪🏻

We are finally loaded after a mega busy week and ready for a Skegness weekender. 🥳

Casey is racing Sunday and Monday in the Stoxkart and Ruby is racing Sunday only in the F2.

Yes both cars are in the truck after a bit of jenga and we had to take the front bumper off the F2 but it beats dragging a trailer over 250 miles. 💪🏻💪🏻

This one might be a long read, We have a championship trophy 🏁🏆🏁

A weekend in the hills at Buxton raceway. Saturday was Casey’s debut in the Stoxkart at a big meeting with a big crowd, no pressure kid😜
She was absolutely petrified, we could feel her shaking through the kart chassis😂😂 someone asked her if she has butterflies in her stomach, she said “I think they have had babies in there”😂
Heat 1,
All the hype, all the looking forward and all the nerves, here we go. Rolling lap and the chain fell off 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️😂😂
Heat 2,
She did it, she finished her first race. Might have been last and a couple of laps down but she did it.👏🏻👏🏻
Final,
She got to about lap 17 of 20 and it got a bit hectic with over 30 cars all around her she ended pulling to the infield. When she came in we asked her what was up she openly said “It just got a bit much and I bottled it a bit” Can’t beat a bit of honestly.👏🏻

Stoxkart Sunday was, As Saturday was all about learning again.
She started and finished both heats and the final without any damage and with big smiles at the end of the day.
We couldn’t have asked for a better first couple of meetings for her considering she has never raced anything before this weekend. 👌🏻👌🏻

V8s Sunday. Supreme championship. 🏁🏆🏁

Ruby,
She decided to let dad have the tarmac car this weekend and she was going to have a play in the shale car.

Heat 1-2.
We made a mistake in the garage and chose the complete wrong gear set so the car just wasn’t pulling out of the corners at all, she finished both heats but way down the grid.

Final.
We changed the gear set and from the get go it was loads better and the pace was there until 3 laps in when the power steering belt decided it didn’t want to be there anymore😤😤DNF

Grand National.
Again on the pace and sticking with the pack but again the power steering belt came off midway but she decided to give her chicken arms a workout 😂 and finished the race with a very heavy steering wheel👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Mike.
The boy who always disliked tarmac when he used to race. The boy who is just coming out for a bit of fun this year but is now 2nd in the national points championship.🤔🤔😂 13 years since he last raced V8s properly.

We wasn’t even sure if the engine was going to hold out as it had lost 6 of its 7 litres of oil at kings Lynn and it has a hydraulic lifter not pumping up. He was advised by the engine builder not to run the engine this weekend but when does Mike ever listen to instructions.🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ it had a misfire all day and a very noisy tapper but it managed to hold out! 🙏🏻

Heat 1,
The pace looked good in the car but he was struggling with it being loose mid corner. Came over the line in 4th.😀

Heat 2,
Changed some tyres and altered the car slightly and it was loads better. Car hooked up really well. Came home in 1st 🏆

Final,
Supreme championship race. With his heat results it put him on pole of his grade. Got off to a good start but so did 65 Jed. They both got to the front fairly early on and Mike was tailing Jed all race but wasn’t close enough yet to attack for the lead. Last few laps and Mike was gaining and planning on a last bender when all of a sudden the bend before the last Jed was pushed wide by a back marker,
Mike then caught him on the last bend and managed to get up the inside. Car 262 Camey was now in the mix and it was a drag to the finish.😬😬 All 3 cars crossed the line within inches of each other but Mike knew his bumper was over first.
Initially the win was given to car 65 because of the transponder readings but even Jed like a true sportsman he is, said Mike had won it. After the stewards had a look at transponder positions it was clear Mike’s transponder was a lot further back and the win was given to Mike.
We did it, Supreme Champion 🏆🏁

This means a lot to us as a family as Mike’s dad Paul Lomax 69 was the first ever winner of this trophy a mere 38 years ago at Long Eaton and for them both to have their name on a trophy means a lot. Best thing about it was Paul was trackside to witness it, it all got a little emotional in the pits afterwords. 😢😂

Grand National,
Mike was ready to load the car up as it had been a long weekend and he was knackered but he decided to give it a go and started from the lap handicap, Steady race came home in 8th place.
But who got 1st,? None other than our best mate 355 Bryan Andrew, 🏆🏁 Well done Bry great win.👏🏻👏🏻

We now have a weekend off racing and then we will be at Skegness on the 3rd & 4th May for a Stoxkart weekender and then Ruby is at Hednesford on 17th May in the V8 an then as long as the new tarmac car is ready both Ruby and Mike will be racing Skegness Pairs weekend on the 24th 25th May in the V8s. 👌🏻

Well that was a busy week 😩😩😩 But we are all loaded and ready for a Buxton raceway weekender.😀🍻🏁
Some work has gone into these cars this week and we can’t thank the team enough.

Saturday we see Casey racing the Stoxkart for her first ever race meeting. If she survives Saturday she will also be racing Sunday.😂

Sunday will also see Ruby and Mike racing the V8s. It will be the first time all 3 will be racing the same day, I reckon if there was trophy’s for arguments we would clean up.😆😆

See you at the track.🏁🏁
