On Tuesday we celebrated International Women’s Day which is this coming Sunday 8th March 💜

To honour this years theme and the incredible strength of women everywhere, we all arrived dressed in something purple, the colour that symbolises justice, dignity and women’s empowerment,

What makes our choir special is that it’s more than just singing. It’s a space where women support women. A safe space where we lift each other up, celebrate each other’s voices, and create something powerful together.

Every rehearsal, every harmony, every laugh reminds us that when women come together, amazing things happen.

Tuesday we sang in purple, but every day we stand together in solidarity, encouragement, and friendship.

Here’s to strong women, supportive communities, and the power of our collective voice. 💜

On St David’s Day, we celebrate the heart of Wales, its heritage, its community, and its music.

“Gwnewch y pethau bychain” do the little things.
For us, that might be one more breath together, one more harmony locked in, one more moment of connection through song.

Last night despite the cold we got together to share our voices and we want to tell you something. 👇

Life can feel incredibly heavy at times.
Grief. Trauma. Illness. Anxiety. Loss.
Seasons that leave you feeling worn down, overwhelmed, or simply not yourself.

At Beechies (Beechwood Community Choir) we’re more than just a choir. We’re a group of women who show up for one another.

We understand that sometimes you don’t need advice, you just need space. Space to breathe. Space to be. Space to feel supported without having to explain everything.

Singing together is a powerful kind of therapy. When we breathe in time, when our voices blend, something shifts. It steadies you. Lifts you. Reminds you that you’re not alone.

Every Tuesday evening we create a warm, inclusive space where:

💛 Women support women
💛 It’s perfectly okay to not be okay
💛 Friendships grow naturally
💛 There’s as much laughter as there is harmony
💛 You can come exactly as you are

We sing songs from many different eras, mostly a ca****la — just voices, connected and honest. We love getting out into the local community to share what we’ve worked on at festivals and events, but the real heart of Beechies is what happens in the room each week.

There are no auditions. No pressure. No expectations.
You don’t need to be confident.
You don’t need to have sung for years.

If you’re going through a difficult time — or simply longing for connection , we would love to welcome you.

And perhaps we need you just as much as you need us.

Your voice matters. More than you know and if you dive into the deep end you'll never meet the ground 🫶

Ahead of our Beechies rehearsal tomorrow evening, we couldn't let the week commence without saying a very fond (and rather sad) farewell to our lovely Lou. 💛

Lou has been a cherished member of the Beechies for many years. As a Lead, she’s brought such warmth, sincerity and sparkle to everything she’s sung, always telling the story beautifully and lifting those around her. But beyond that, she’s been a true friend, kind, supportive, quick with a laugh, and always there when it mattered.

As she heads off to begin a new chapter a little further from us, we couldn’t be more happy for her, even if we are feeling the loss already. We’re absolutely delighted that she assures us she’ll be continuing her singing journey and find a choir near her new home. Once a singer, always a singer. 🎶

Lou, thank you for the music, the memories, and the friendship. You’ll be hugely missed, but you’ll always be part of the Beechies family.

This is very much a “see you soon”, not a goodbye. 💕

What an inspiring day for our Beechies! 🌟🦋🦋🦋🦋

This afternoon we were proud to take to the stage in the Open Category at the North Wales Choral Festival in beautiful Llandudno. Although we didn’t place, today was about so much more than results , it was an opportunity to share the work we pour our hearts into every single week and to experience the buzz and challenge of the contest stage together.

We are especially proud of five of our wonderful women, Tee, Nadine, Cathy, Linda and Emma, who stood on a contest stage for the very first time ever today, our Holly in her solo, our narrators Agnes and Nadine and all our wonderful women, They were absolutely amazing, and it was a joy to watch them rise to the moment with such confidence, courage, and heart 💛 inspired by our incredible director Les who leads us with such determination and passion.

Huge congratulations to the winners. Tullamore stage school ladies choir.
And, our neighbours Crystal Chords - Greater Manchester Ladies Barbershop Harmony Chorus on their fantastic second place, and third place choir Côr Heddlu Gogledd Cymru, so well deserved! 👏

We’d also like to send a massive thank you to our sisters in Affinity Show Choir for their love, encouragement, and support, it truly means the world to us, and you always inspire us.

And finally, thank you to all the organisers and volunteers who made today such a welcoming, well-run, and joyful event. What a wonderful celebration of singing , we’re already buzzing for the next chance to do this again. 🙏🏻⭐️👌🏻🦋

as you step into the spotlight at the North Wales Choral Festival tomorrow.

Sing with all the strength, vulnerability, and fire that only women together can bring, with of course the exception of your male director Andy of course! 😜

You are powerful.
You are prepared.
You are more than the notes on the page.

Stand tall, trust each other, and let your voices take up space,
because when women sing together, it’s unstoppable.

So much fun at Beechies last night! 🎶
Huge thanks to Julie and Bernie for leading such an engaging warm-up exploring performance interpretations with masks, playful phonation, and focused breath work. It was energising, creative, and had us all thinking (and laughing!) while singing.

We love starting rehearsal with curiosity, connection, and a bit of fun thanks both for bringing it! 💛🎭

The Beechies are rehearsing hard and counting the weeks 🎶

We’re getting ready for our little road trip to the North Wales Choral Festival in Llandudno this February. Getting out together like this really matters, sharing the experience, building camaraderie, and making music as a team.

Harmonies are coming together, spirits are high, and we can’t wait to enjoy an excellent festival in a brilliant setting.
