It's a funny time of the year to show off jumpers. The last thing most of us wish to think of is snuggling up and keeping warm! I'm here to give you a tiny tip. When looking at the patterns available, turn them over, you may find a nice surprise! Like this one. On the front there is a jumper, quite a pleasant jumper too. Flip it over and there is a sleeveless top in the pattern to! Now originally the pattern is made in a high wool content yarn, but it's a double knit and we all know that many double knit will swap out! In particular the Cotton soft from King Cole. I've popped the colours I have in stock for you to take a look at. There are loads more. Now there are two main things to watch out for when substituting yarns. Firstly the tension square. Now the pattern states a tension of 22st and 28 rows, which is exactly the same as the cottonsoft -so that's a winner! The second thing is the yardage/metrage. Now the yarn on the pattern is 180 metres or 196 yards, it is a 50gm ball too. On the cottonsoft it's 210 metres or 229 yards, it's a 100gm ball. I'm afraid cotton does weigh that little bit heavier. So check the pattern for how long the original yarn should be. Then divide that by the length in the other yarn. Then you can work it just how much yarn you need! We will help you if you wish.

Well it's going to get warmer over this weekend and maybe towards next weekend too. It makes me think that maybe we should put away those heavy jumpers and blankets to work on something lighter. So I looked at the patterns for bags, cushion covers and phone covers, generally smaller stuff! This I thought was a smashing bag, big enough to carry the summer essentials in, money/bank cards, sunscreen and a bottle of water! It's made in the Sirdar Stories, that's a lovely 60% cotton and 40% acrylic blend. I have lots of colours available in thi, far more than the nine I pulled out to show you.
The pattern is £3.60 the yarn is £3.35. Be warned though it's set to increase in the next delivery.

It's Thursday, our June challenge day! The idea is that we make something small to pop in our garden. For the last two weeks I have made a whirly gig and a plant pop decoration. I haven't done anything for the garden this week. I seem to have strained the tendons in the top of my hand. I stretched across the table in the shop, picked up something, rather awkwardly and twinged it! It just aches a little. I was thinking along the lines of some bunting, I may find something smaller. Have you made anything for your garden this month? Remember there will be a small prize for the one we all find the most fun.

IT'S WIP WEDNESDAY!!!
Well it certainly looks like I have been a busy bee over the last week so what have I done. Firstly the sample jumper I making for a workshop is now on the last stretch and I've reached the point of making the buttonholes. Joshua's slip over is up to the back and I have now brought it back to the shop as its easier to pick up and put down now the vee neck shaping is done. I have also started some "hat stock" made for the autumn/winter time. Whilst at home I've continued to work on the cabled gilet I am making myself. Then I came across this cardigan that I had made and was waiting for me to make up! Thankfully I did it watching the tennis yesterday afternoon.
So how have your WIPs been going this week? Anything finished, or just as exciting any thing new started? Or simply plodding on? Show us a picture of your current wip so we can cheer you on!

This really does have to be one of the best baby patterns I have made. It fits from a new born to a three year old. It's made in a double knit yarn and there are loads of these available. I made it in the denim effect yarn that Patons produce. The yarn I've shown along side is the King Cole Big Value Baby.
Pattern costs £3.50. The yarn I've shown with it costs £2.80 for a 100gm ball but you can use most double knits, just remember to check yardage.

Well I'm back from my break, it has been lovely, very peaceful. Now I'm back ready to whip some energy back in my knitting!
Thinking about refreshing things around the shop realising this starys with clearing some space. Firstly I'm going to pop a bit of a special offer on some yarns then make up a clearence box for some "odd balls". You know the ones with out a mate.
This is the first the King Cole Flair. Deceptive it is as it is a 100gm ball that goes well above the normal meterage for a 100gm ball of chunky. There is a massive 320 metres or 350 yards in each ball. This is mostly because it has mohair it and because of the nature of it, its not spun tight. So as such it goes a long way! Check out the patterns for it when you come in the shop! Originally it was £5.99 a ball and I've reduced it to £4.00 a ball, which is over a 15% saving.

The main company I deal with for haberdashery dabbles a little in yarn. This Trimmits yarn is truly so very soft and is 100% acrylic. Now as I'm typing this I can't actually remember the cost of it but I'm sure it's less than £4.00 a ball! I'll confirm tomorrow when I'm back! I've bought in just four shades, I need to see if you like it as much as I do! Clare knitted this cardigan for the shop and sent me this photo through of it, so I could use it this afternoon. Then last night there was the most amazing sunset. It was almost 360 around the caravan site. Josh took this photo from the sea wall, about 150 yards from the van we were staying in! I could not believe just how much the colours reflected each other! Have you ever made anything that reflects your surroundings?

Thursday is June challenge day! The challenge is to make something small to pop out in your garden. So far this month I have made a decorative collar for a plant pot and a whirly gig hanger for my garden. I'm not sure if that's the official name for it but whirly gig is what I call them! These are the "random acts of kindness" I have made. There are just half a dozen of them I'm going to bob them out around the caravan site for people to take. They are book marks, after all so many of us read whilst we are on holiday don't we?
Have you made anything for the June challenge yet? It needs to be something to pop in your garden. Then send a photo and we'll have a vote and the winner will recieve a small prize from the shop.
