‘Painting Nature’

The translucent quality of watercolour offers great potential to portray the natural world, and is beloved by many famous artists.
Using vases of plants as inspiration, we’ll be exploring how artists use watercolour in different, exciting ways and therefore spark your own ideas.
If anyone has been to this class before, I will make sure to choose new artists to investigate.

TETRA PAK PRINTING - SATURDAY OCTOBER 17th
11:00 - 1:00
‘Printing Nature’

A simple, but highly effective method of printing, we’ll be etching and cutting into Tetra Pak (drink cartons packaging). The incisions hold the ink to be transferred to many sheets of paper.
We’ll begin the class by drawing from vases of plants, and use these as a basis for the workshop. This printmaking method is easy to continue at home.
We will be using soy based, non-toxic paints that clean up easily with soap & water, not hazardous solvents.

A watercolour paint set is a favourite of many.
So easy to transport out doors.
The translucent quality of this medium offers great potential to portray the natural world, and is beloved by many famous artists.
Firstly, we’ll get messy and experiment with different mark making techniques - scratching, cutting, blotting, using everything from bubble wrap to salt to get interesting colours and texture formations.
Then, using vases of plants as inspiration, we’ll further these explorations to produce more detailed studies.

Highly recommend this exhibition - she’s best known for her oil paintings, but her watercolours are equally beautiful.
I’ll be bringing the exhibition brochure with me for this Saturday’s workshop to inspire guests and myself!
