Vulture Day is this Saturday! 🦅

Come and meet our Education Team outside the sea lion pool from 10am–4pm for a day of hands-on fun, fascinating facts and all things vultures.

Think feather detectives, owl pellet dissections, telemetry demonstrations, vulture calls… and the all-important question: what's Kevin the vulture really like behind-the-scenes?? 👀

There’ll also be a Vulture Day tombola, with the chance to win tickets for a special flight experience at our 12pm, 2pm or 4pm Bird of Prey Flying Display. Winners must be aged 16+.

Come and find out why vultures are some of nature’s most important clean-up crew! 💚

A wee while ago, we told you that despite Gill’s advanced years, Karsa had decided she was her favourite playmate...

Well, safe to say, that’s still very much the case! 😂

Karsa can sometimes get a little too enthusiastic, but she always seems to say sorry if she's taken things a bit too far.

Just look out for the loving hug at around 17 seconds in. 🥹 These two really are the sweetest pair. ❤️

Some days, you spend hours handmaking a bespoke ‘hot air balloon’-style toy for your sea lions.

Other days, an offcut of fire hose comes along and suddenly it’s the best thing since sliced bread... 😂

Barney and Nessie have spoken, and apparently the fancy enrichment can take a back seat. 🦭

If you’ve ever wondered what a ‘catastrophic moult’ is, Izzy’s here to give you a very good demonstration… 😂

Penguins don’t gradually replace their feathers like most birds do. Instead, once a year they replace all of their old, worn-out feathers at once over just a few weeks.

Which means they spend a little while looking… well, like Izzy. 😅

Time efficient? Sure.
Attractive? Maybe not.

But underneath all those scruffy feathers is a brand-new, waterproof coat ready for another year of swimming. 🐧
