We are also delighted to announce that the Spring 2021 SUDS production will be Cyrano De Bergerac - brought to you by the wonderful Franco Nazareno and Sophia Riederer.

Also a massive thank you to for putting together these fun committee posters - we thought we’d take the opportunity to have a bit of fun with our committee photo tradition despite being separated.

Thank you to all who ran in the AGM and Play Pitches. From the old committee to the new we wish you all the best, and hope that you have a fun, creative year ahead.

(The role of backstage officer is yet to be filled. This role will be re-opened at an EGM in the next academic semester)

To all current SUDS members:

Here is the link to this semester's online AGM and Play Pitches. You will be able to vote via this form until Monday at 12pm.

As with all union elections this vote is anonymous - however you have been asked to provide your student number so that the acting election officer can confirm the voter is a paid member of SUDS. As always, you must have an up to date SUDS membership to vote. Votes from non-paid members unfortunately cannot be counted.

SUDS COVID-19 UPDATE

read on for changes to: workshops, the performance of Hamlet, committee elections, play pitch voting and next year’s plays and the SUDS gala.

So as of now all room bookings have been cancelled due to the coronavirus. This means that there will be no more SUDS workshops this semester. As a result of this the AGM and play pitches workshop will not be happening next week.

Under the current situation the union has stated current 2019/20 committee can nominate individuals who will serve as committee until the next opportunity for an election- this is the blanket rule for all societies. If you are interested in running for a position please contact Abby as soon as possible with your student email and student number. Anticipating that we may get more than one volunteer for some roles and none for another, we’d also like you to say if there are any other committee roles you wouldn’t mind being considered for, and if there are any you don’t. You will of course be contacted before any final decision is made.

As a result of the virus Hamlet will be canceled and will not be taking place on the 6-7th of April.

In regards to the next play a poll will be put on the SUDS Instagram asking if you would prefer the committee to pick the next play or have a voting form where paid members can vote for the next play- in order to do the latter anonymity of voting will be waived to ensure a fair vote and prevent multiple voting. At the moment we are hoping to postpone Hamlet until October so this round of play pitches will be selecting ONE play that will go on in either October or February dependant on the MacRobert’s response to our request m.

Currently our Gala event is still going ahead and we are planning for it to still happen but as nobody knows what the situation will be in a month’s time there is a chance this will not happen either. We’ll collect money for tickets closer to the time to prevent any complications surrounding refunds should they be required. In the absence of the event itself we will still be voting for our end of semester awards online as is usual.

All of us at the SUDS committee are incredibly disappointed with these outcomes but safety comes first and foremost. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this causes and we hope that you and your family are safe.

Should we be unable to meet again in this academic year we’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for an amazing year of SUDS, and to thank those of our members who are leaving uni this year for their contribution to our society and to wish them all the best going forward.
