Thanking Ian Keable, our guest, for such an entertaining end to our 2025+2026 season. Members were treated to an illustrated and humorous lecture on "The Art of Trickery - How magicians are seen in art" and alongside the lecture Ian skillfully demonstrated the tricks live on stage. That said, we gave a miss to a live demo on in sawing a member in half !!

Heres Ian with this month's lucky raffle winner.

Our new season starts from 1st July and the first lecture is on Thursday 17th September at The Albert Halls, Stirling at 11.00 on the Scottish Artist McTaggart. New members and guests welcome. See our website for details on how to become a new member.

Like so many we are saddened by the news that David Hockney passed away earlier this week. The old master of the modern world was admired by so many of our members and left a wonderful artist legacy for all to enjoy.

Spotted this post...for all the Rennie Macintosh fans amongst you. Brings back happy memories of our fabulous Study Day Tour of C.R. earlier this year.

On this day in 1868: legendary Scottish architect, designer and artist Charles Rennie Mackintosh was born in Glasgow. This fantastic bronze statue of him by sculptor Andy Scott stands proudly in Glasgow to honour his incredible legacy.

Alongside his future wife, Margaret MacDonald, he was a key member of "The Glasgow Four" – the pioneers who came to define the Art Nouveau movement in the UK. His distinctive style earned him an international reputation that we still celebrate today. Let's hope they can rebuild his burnt-out masterpiece, the Glasgow School of Art. 🙌
