Our Father's Day brunch was a wonderful way to spend time with loved ones at Martins House 💜

Our wonderful residents and their families came together to enjoy a delicious breakfast prepared by our kitchen team, with fresh eggs and bacon, toast with jam, croissants, bagels with cream cheese, yoghurts and plenty of tea and coffee to go around.

Most importantly, it was lovely to see so many happy faces around the table, enjoying good food, great company and quality time together. These are the moments that make days like Father's Day so special 😊💜

What a fun few days we’ve had here at Martins House 😊

We’ve been keeping active with a bit of friendly competition, from hoop throw to balloon tennis. There was plenty of cheering each other on and a few impressive shots too. It’s safe to say our residents didn’t hold back!

We also enjoyed our very first skincare workshop, which brought lots of laughs along the way. From cleansing through to choosing between vitamin C, green tea, rose or Dead Sea masks, everyone got stuck in. Jean said her skin felt lovely and soft afterwards, and there were plenty of giggles as the masks went on 💜

And with the rainy weather keeping us indoors, our gardening club found a cosy new spot inside. Brian shared some great tips while Chris and Wendy got busy planting, turning a grey day into something really enjoyable 🌱

Margaret, Lorna, Jean and Marian recently enjoyed a lovely trip out to Fairlands Valley Park in Stevenage 💜

It was the perfect opportunity to enjoy some fresh air and a change of scenery. Our wonderful residents from Martins House spent time watching the fishermen by the lake, spotting ducks gliding across the water and even saying hello to a few friendly dogs along the way 😊

After a gentle stroll, we stopped at the café for tea, coffee and cake, while Lorna treated herself to an ice cream. The afternoon flew by, and before we knew it, it was time to head back to Martins House for supper after a thoroughly enjoyable outing.

Last week, we had a very special little session led by our wonderful Joan, who many of you may know spent years as a nurse at our local hospital. 🩹

She showed us how to properly bandage an arm, talking us through each step with such ease and confidence. It was lovely to see her slip back into her role, sharing her knowledge and a few stories along the way.

There was plenty of interest from our residents, and a few of us even had a go ourselves. Joan made it all feel simple and reassuring, just like she must have done for so many people over the years 💜

At Martins House , our wonderful residents spent a lovely afternoon in arts and crafts creating a bright and cheerful frog collage 🎨🐸 It was one of those sessions where everyone got stuck in straight away and really enjoyed themselves.

There was plenty of chat as the colours came together, with everyone choosing their own little details and enjoying seeing the picture take shape. It was relaxed, fun, and full of those small moments where ideas get shared naturally.

Once finished, the collage was proudly put on display and it has really brightened up the space. Our residents were so pleased to see their work up for everyone to enjoy 💜

At Martins House , Gwen and Sylvia both have a real eye for a bargain, so we headed over to the Oval Community Centre for a little browse in the charity shop.

It didn’t take long for the ladies to spot some lovely finds. Gwen chose a new top and a pretty bracelet, while Sylvia was thrilled with two new tops and a pair of trousers. Both of them were absolutely delighted with their bits and pieces 💜

It was one of those simple outings that turns into a really lovely afternoon, just enjoying a wander, a chat, and the excitement of finding something just right.

We had a truly lovely afternoon at Martins House with a visit from Victoria at Wishing Well Productions 🎶💜

Victoria filled the room with beautiful music, singing some of our lovely residents’ favourite songs. It didn’t take long before everyone was clapping along, singing, and sharing plenty of smiles as the atmosphere turned into a real celebration of music and togetherness 👏

It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged and enjoying the moment. A simple afternoon that left everyone feeling uplifted and connected 🌟

🧀🍷 National Cheese Day was the perfect excuse to enjoy a few tasty treats at Martins House this week.

Our wonderful residents tucked into a delicious cheeseboard with biscuits, accompanied by a choice of red or white wine. There was plenty of chatting, laughter, and comparing favourite cheeses as everyone enjoyed the afternoon together 💜

Sometimes it's the simple things that bring people together, and this was certainly one of those occasions 😊

We had such a special celebration at Martins House as we gathered in our coffee shop to celebrate Pamela’s 90th birthday 💜 The space was dressed beautifully with colourful banners and balloons, and it felt like the perfect setting for a proper birthday get together.

Pamela was absolutely spoiled with thoughtful cards, lovely gifts and the most beautiful flowers. Our kitchen team also did an amazing job with a stunning cake that went down a treat with everyone.

There was even a very special visit from Lizzie, our much loved pet therapy dog, who popped in to wish Pamela a happy birthday in her own gentle way. It was a really lovely moment shared with friends and family 🐾💜
