Felicity Hamilton, Singing Teacher

Felicity Hamilton, Singing Teacher Based in Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex, Felicity Hamilton has over a decade of experience as a singing teacher and conductor.

For the last few years I have focused on my passion for music education: conducting and teaching singing at Queen's College, London, working with The National Youth Choirs of Great Britain as a singing teacher and section leader, and with the Ulster Youth Choirs and London Youth Choirs as a vocal coach. I have over a decade of experience teaching singing to a wide range of ages - from primary sch

ool to adults, focussing mostly on secondary school age. I enjoy teaching complete beginners as well as singers with much more experience. As a member of The British Voice Association and The Association of Teachers of Singing, I feel that vocal health is paramount and am always keen to expand my knowledge. I am very proud that a number of my exceptional students over the years have attained places in the National Youth Choirs. I provide all my students with a grounding in classical vocal technique, which provides a healthy and effective foundation for any style of singing. I am happy to support them to sing in a range of genres suited to their voice and personality. I have also had a few students come to me with vocal problems and am experienced at helping students with these. I encourage my students to challenge themselves by taking singing exams if they wish to pursue that path, and they have a 100% pass rate at exams for which I have entered them, with most achieving distinctions or merits, including at Grade 8. I recognise my role as a singing teacher as comprising three necessary and interdependent elements: teaching appropriate technique to keep my students' voices healthy and developing at their natural rate; enabling them to have fun and gain a love of music and singing; and caring for them as an individual. I do my utmost to tailor my teaching to each student by prioritising these aspects as appropriate.

I look forward to getting to know you or your child and helping you to achieve your vocal ambitions - whatever they may be. It is important to me to have a productive working relationship with you, so I woud be happy to respond to any queries you may have.

I'm so proud of my youngest students (age 4 - 7!) for giving a fantastic performance yesterday at their school family fun day. You all sang brilliantly, with such energy and enthusiasm and performed with poise and a maturity I didn't dream to ask of you. I am so excited to continue to teach you all and see what amazing things the next few years will bring. Special thanks to Adrian Jones for giving your time and expertise to accompany them. Congratulations everyone πŸ‘πŸŽ΅πŸ€©

Huge congratulations to student Amelia, who played Penny Pingleton in Bishops Stortford Musical Theatre Company Youth's production of Hairspray this week. You were absolutely amazing, all that hard work definitely paid off. You got some fantastic compliments from some people who really know what they're talking about - I hope you take that on board! A very professional production and very promising young girl - well done πŸ˜€πŸ‘

My Story

I have sung all my life, beginning in a church choir and later touring the world with the National Youth Choir of Great Britain. I studied at Birmingham Conservatoire Junior School and the Royal Academy of Music where I gained my degree and qualification as a singing teacher. I have extensive experience as a professional soprano, and for the last few years I have focused on my passion for music education: conducting and teaching singing at Queen's College, London, working with The National Youth Choirs of Great Britain as a singing teacher and section leader, and with the Ulster Youth Choirs and London Youth Choirs as a vocal coach. Some of my students have gone on to win Oxbridge choral scholarships and places at music college. I recognise my role as a singing teacher as comprising three necessary and interdependent elements: teaching appropriate technique to keep my students' voices healthy and developing at their natural rate; enabling them to have fun and gain a love of music and singing; and caring for them as an individual.
