An indoor activity centre & café dreamed up by two Stamford locals who craved a place that both accommodated and appealed to adults and children alike. THE YARD serves great coffee, fresh locally sourced cakes, kids picnic style lunch bags and cold drinks. THE YARD hosts daily activities in the event space, which can also be hired for private parties and classes.

We’re very lucky to have had a busy summer against all the odds, which thankfully helps towards the rising costs of running a small business. But these rising costs are taking their toll on play cafés like ours. The Association for Indoor Play has launched a campaign to make VAT 0% on entry to children’s indoor play venues. This would bring it inline with other children’s items such as books, clothes and toys.
This has never been needed more - both to help indoor play venues survive (and maybe even thrive?) and to help us keep the price to families affordable.
There’s a fine balance between charging enough to cover all our costs and keeping entrance low enough for it to be accessible. And safe indoor play spaces should be accessible for all children to help them develop both socially and physically.

We would be immensely grateful if you could take 60 seconds to sign the petition - which we have linked in our bio - so this can be taken to parliament for discussion.

come and mark the end of summer with us at our end of summer party week “Last of the Summer Whine” 🥳(pun on a niche reference that might be showing our age 👵🏼)
We have later sessions on everyday Tuesday - Friday at 3:15 where we will be serving free Prosecco and elderflower for the adults and we will get plenty of extra hot meals so you can sort the kids tea while you’re here too! 🍴

Please help us to keep The Little Yardies safe by keeping big kids out of our under 2’s area.
We often have older children visiting us during the summer holidays and at weekends (which we love of course - we’ve watched most of them grow up! ❤️) but sometimes we are too busy to notice what’s going on out there.
✔️ Do come and let the staff know if there are older children in the baby area and we are happy to gently let them or their parents know 😊

We’re taking part in the governments Great British Summer Savings scheme, meaning from today until 1st of September the government are reducing VAT on entrance fees and children’s meals, to help families over the summer months.
This means for the next couple of months you can save a few bob! We know it’s just a little bit, but every little helps right?
And as happy as we are to be able to share this saving with you, we also want to address the fact that VAT for the hospitality sector is disgustingly high in this country and is absolutly crippling for businesses.
There is currently a petition running, driven by to reduce VAT to 10% for hospitality which would bring it inline with Spain, France and Italy (Germany is 7%!!!)
