‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️. A reminder to everyone: it is NEVER okay to feed farm animals or horses that do not belong to you. Not ever. Not “just a few leaves”, not “a handful of grass”, not anything. Many hedgerow plants and wildflowers are highly toxic and can kill within hours. When you walk through the countryside, please enjoy the views, enjoy the peace, enjoy the wildlife — but do not treat it as a free petting farm.

If you wouldn’t walk up someone’s driveway and feed their dog, please don’t reach over a fence and feed our animals.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we have to share some devastating news. We have lost our wonderful Big Ben — Penhriw Bently — after walkers fed our male goats over the fence. Despite the many signs asking people NOT to feed them, toxic plants were pulled and offered to our boys.

Ben didn’t make it.
Wallace and Milo were also poisoned and became critically unwell, but thanks to our incredible vets Shires Vets Farm they have pulled through. Their recovery has been slow, painful, and distressing to watch.
This was entirely avoidable.

Farm animals are not free public entertainment. They are not part of a petting farm. They are loved, cared for, and protected. They are someone’s responsibility, someone’s livelihood, and someone’s family.

Not only have we lost a beautiful boy, but we have also lost an irreplaceable bloodline and a huge part of our breeding programme. The hole he leaves behind is enormous.

Please, please think before you act. Walk through the countryside with respect. Admire the animals from a distance. But do not feed them — ever.
