My Geothermal collection is conceived as a dialogue between two elemental forces: Hā Pounamu and Hā Kōwhai. Distinct yet deeply connected, they represent two warring but complimentary elements of the earth.

The works are designed to be acquired in multiples and displayed in pairs, allowing the tension and harmony between the elements to fully emerge. While each piece holds its own presence, together they form a cohesive body of work, with every pairing thoughtfully created to complement the others.

Hā Pounamu - Breath of Greenstone

Continuing my series of posts about the artwork in my Geothermal Series.

This statement piece forms the central anchor of the Hā Pounamu element of the Geothermal Collection.
From Māori, the name of this piece is split into two components. Hā: evokes a connection to breath, vital essence, life force, presence and aliveness. Pounamu: holds the sense of deep green stone, mineral earth and something both ancient and living. Together this phrase feels like the earth exhaling green from its depths.

Hā Kōwhai - Breath of Golden Sulphur

Thank you for voting, an overwhelming number of you voted for the orange set, so as promised here’s the inspiration behind the Statement Piece in this element of the Geothermal Series.

This statement piece forms the central anchor of the Hā Kōwhai element of the Geothermal Collection.
From Māori, the name of this piece is split into two components. Hā: evokes a connection to breath, vital essence, life force, presence and aliveness. Kōwhai: means golden, warmth, sunlight, spring and sacred yellow. Together this phrase feels like the land breathing, geothermal, alive and slightly dangerous. The body of New Zealand with volcanic fire below. This isn’t just a pretty line, it feels elemental.

Much needed advice to everyone in this crazy world!

Here’s me adding the final touches to my Hā Kōwhai statement piece that will be featuring in my new Geothermal Collection launching next week

Art is such a meditative process for me. Adding the fine details at the end I need to slow down my breathing to focus and life clearly imitates art because this piece is about the power of the earth which I’ve reflected in the bold colours but also about the breath of the earth as a living thing that we must look after.
