My first attempt at home ware is finished.

Love the colour scheme, need to work on my tension, as unlike my wall art, I want a nice straight edge!

But as they say, practice makes better, so back to the drawing board to try different materials, and sizes until I get a nice, thick woven coaster to protect my table!

I picked up the loom today, after almost a year of not weaving I planned, started and completed a weave. A very practical one to protect my table from hot pots.

Though it's a small start, I feel like I've overcome a major creative hurdle!

I created this piece while going through a really hard time accepting what was happening to my dad, working through a lot of anger and sadness about what was to come as his primary progressive dementia really took hold. We'd only had an official diagnosis a few months and to say I was wrecked is an understatement.

I've now reached a place where I'm a lot more accepting, if no less angry and devastated about what is happening and this piece holds a lot of that emotion within it. So it's time to let her go into the wild.

But I'm not sure how best to go about it. I would love to fundraise through donating to an auction that benefits the or donate to a place where textile art would bring joy to those with a similar condition. It's surprisingly hard to find information online on how to do this which is why I'm throwing it out to the hive mind to get some ideas!!

Hello 2025!

It's been quietly calm, and absolutely Baltic so far!!

I'm feeling the itch to weave again, to blend colours and fibres, touch textures and create something beautiful. I took an unplanned hiatus in 2024, and read and knit a lot instead and while there's still a lot of knitting on my list, there will also be weaving!

First snow of the year and it felt apropos to dig out my art scarf for a day of winter rail travel.

Cosy, warm, colourful and another year off the trend train....because when you love your accessories and you look fab in them, you keep them for years!

There's a handful of ready made Art Scarves on my website, if you're in the mood for a treat this winter.

Now, back to the snow.....yay or nay?
