Spotlight on Jess: Principal of Stagecoach Stafford. ✨

A little bit about me… and us! 🧡🖤💛

I live in Stafford with my husband Will, a guitar teacher, and our 9-year-old son Arthur. Much of my week is spent driving Arthur to and from school in Lichfield, fitting work into the gaps in between!

I’ve been a Drama teacher for over 20 years and still teach GCSE and A Level Drama part time, as well as working as an examiner. I’m also a director, performer and acting coach, so theatre has always been a huge part of my life.

Outside Stagecoach, I’m heavily involved with Musical Theatre Stafford and am currently directing Come From Away – a show I absolutely adore.

When I took over the school, I wanted it to be performing arts school rooted in the local community, where we know our children and families and they know us.

I care very much about the quality of what we teach - that comes with my professional background. But I also care just as much about the experience children have while they’re learning. I want Stagecoach to be somewhere they want to come – somewhere they can build confidence, take risks, find their people and discover the joy of being part of a creative team.

We have children who dream of performing professionally and children who may never set foot on a stage after leaving us. Both are equally welcome and nurtured!

As a SEND mum, inclusion is particularly important to me. Children don’t all learn, communicate or experience the world in the same way – I believe that our job is to work out what each child needs to access opportunities and thrive.

Singing, dancing and acting bring us together, but so do the things around them: friendships, confidence, independence, creativity and belonging.

I’m so incredibly proud of the community we’re building together. 🧡🖤💛

Spotlight on Further Stages ✨

Ready to take your performance skills further?

Our Further Stages classes are for students aged 14+ who love singing, dancing and acting and want to develop as confident, committed performers. Sessions are supportive, focused and designed to help students progress. 🌟

Students work with our specialist team across:

🎤 Singing: vocal technique, harmony, solo performance and confidence
💃 Dance: technique, choreography and performance in a range of styles
🎭 Drama: characterisation, movement, text work and performance technique

There’s plenty to look forward to, including:

🎭 Performing in a professional venue in our production of Chicago Teen Edition at Crown Wharf Theatre in November
🎤 Creating show reels and preparing for future performance opportunities
🤝 Developing communication, teamwork and resilience
✨ Building confidence and discovering what you’re capable of
📚 Supporting GCSEs/BTECs in Performing Arts subjects

Further Stages is a place to work hard, have fun and make real progress. Students are encouraged to bring their own ideas, develop their individual strengths and take on new challenges in a welcoming environment.

Whether they’re thinking about further training, interested in performance opportunities or ready to take their skills to the next level, Further Stages offers the space, support and challenge to help them grow.

Spotlight on Main Stages ✨

Does your child love to sing, dance or act - or simply want to build confidence, make friends and have fun? Our Main Stages classes are perfect for ages 7–14! 🌟

Running on Saturday mornings during term time, children enjoy specialist lessons in:

🎤 Singing: harmony, solo work and vocal technique
💃 Dance: technique across a range of styles
🎭 Drama: character, vocal and movement skills

Across three age groups, every child is encouraged to find their strengths and shine in their own way.

Students also have opportunities to:

🎭 Perform in professional venues
🎤 Take LAMDA exams
🎶 Enjoy 1:1 singing lessons
🤝 Make new friends
🌟 Build confidence, resilience, communication and teamwork

Our small, friendly classes are led by specialist teachers in fantastic facilities at Stafford Grammar School, creating a warm, supportive environment where children can thrive.

Speaking of our new term, Stagecoach Stafford has a new home!

We’re so looking forward to starting in our new long-term home at Stafford Grammar School! 😍

With a fantastic large hall and stage, with raked seating and sound and lighting facilities, plus dedicated dance and drama specialist facilities, it’s a brilliant space for our students to learn, create and perform. 🎉

A huge thank you to Shaun and the team at Stafford Grammar School for making us feel so welcome and for working hard to get everything ready for us. We’re incredibly grateful and can’t wait to get settled in! See you on the 12th!

Tonight our amazing team got together to celebrate Alex’s birthday and say goodbye (for now!) to Nicki, Ella and Lydia! 🎉🧡

We feel so lucky to work alongside such talented, passionate and brilliant people who also make us laugh until our sides hurt! 🤪

A gorgeous evening celebrating some very special people. We’re going to miss our leavers SO much, but they’ll always be part of our Stagecoach Stafford family, and we fully expect plenty of visits! 🧡💛
