Hi folks. sadly, I have decided to stop running the Live Lounge event.

Since we returned after covid it has been such an uphill struggle to get attendances back up.
for a few months now I've said...I will see how next month goes... and if anything, the numbers have gone down.

It is way too much work attracting performers, messaging audiences, setting up the room and sound for such poor support and embarrassing asking people to travel long distance to perform to such a small audience.

I know its not just us struggling, but honestly,
I have run out of ideas.
We have some regular people who have attended every event and absolutely love it and the concept. And they have forwarded on messages to support the event .

One regular has said " joe everything about the night is fabulous, I cannot tell you one thing to change" ...but we just can't get people out of their armchairs.

Many many thanks , to John Hawthorne for helping me every month for not a penny in return, to Jason at The Three Stirrups - who has been so helpful, to the regulars such as chris and her sister, Rob and Jane, Julie and of course to the fabulous artists

a lovely night at The Lounge last night.

Hannah Brown and Mark Parrish treated us to some fabulous songs and musicianship. It's so heartwarming to hear young songwriters perform their songs and hear their stories...magical

Buzzing from a fantastic night at the Live Lounge...
what can I say!!
Karen Hawthorne playing a solo set for the 1st time in years, just marvellous;
Andy Jenkins- what a craftsman of a song. superb guitar work, great lyrics, great voice.
And Jemima Hughes....
I'd only heard jemima briefly at The Platform@the Station in bham last year but I knew I needed to give her a spot.
Energetic poetry, performed with body and mind. Honest, heart wrenching stuff.
I was worried how the audience of regular music lovers would take to it...Well they bloody loved it!

Thank you all three of you for being so lovely and marvellous. And to the audience for being so appreciative.

I just have to find a way to coax more lazy butts off sofas for the next one.
You're missing absolute treat, every time you stay in for Eastenders guys and girls!!

A week tomorrow The Live Lounge is back!

Andy Jenkins is a fabulous songwriter from Birmingham. Either writing and performing in the band- Sitting Room, or performing solo, he writes some lovely songs!
Karen Hawthorne who many locals know for her great voice, performing as a duo with husband John, will be featuring on her own with gorgeous songs no doubt.
And, a very special treat , we have multi award winning poet Jemima Hughes from Birmingham, providing some thought provoking poems which combine fabulous phrasing with a physical energy that reinforces the message in a great way.
An awesome night ahead!!

entry fee is £2.50 and we do pass a hat around during the night if you would care to add any extra pennies for the performance.
