From the depths of the Earth’s mantle to the turning lathe. 🌊🪨The more I learn about the Cornish Serpentine I use, the more incredible it feels to work with it. The dark stone barrel on this pen started its journey roughly 600 million years ago, miles beneath the ocean floor. It was forged under immense pressure and high temperatures, getting its signature snake-like veins when ancient seawater altered the hot mantle minerals.Bringing that raw, ancient geology out of the ground and shaping it into a precision writing tool is a massive challenge. Stone is unforgivingly brittle on the lathe, but the polished, glass-like finish makes the struggle worth it.Beautifully balanced by a hand-turned ebonite cap and a commanding size 8 Bock nib.Drop a comment below if you’d love to write with a pen literally carved from tectonic history! 📝

They said you couldn’t make a pen out of rock... so I did it anyway. 😉This is only my second fountain pen featuring a body turned from genuine Cornish Serpentine stone. Because authentic serpentine rock is so incredibly fragile and difficult to turn, thread, and stabilize, stone fountain pens are virtually non-existent.Every millimeter of this barrel required absolute precision. To balance the raw weight and texture of the stone, I hand-turned the cap and section from classic mottled ebonite and fitted the front end with a massive size 8 Bock nib.

Holding millions of years of British history in your hand. 🌊✒️Introducing the newest creation from Silverburl Pens: a bespoke fountain pen individually handcrafted from genuine “Bastite” Serpentine, hand-collected from the historic cliffs of the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall, UK.Because authentic Cornish Serpentine is notoriously brittle and difficult to tame, genuine stone pens are virtually non-existent. Through a proprietary stabilization process, I have successfully fused this historic mineral with a gleaming M3 Brass Molecular Composite core.Beneath its glass-polished shell, the deep forest-green matrix comes alive with natural, glittering bronze pyroxene crystals that catch the daylight dynamically as you write. This isn’t just a fine writing instrument—it is a functional piece of art crafted from the Earth’s ancient mantle.📩 DM for serious inquiries, pricing, and bespoke commission availability.
