CALL OUT TO ARTISTS & CREATIVE PRACTITIONERS IN LINCS

CONVENTION FOR THE UNCONVENTIONAL 15th JULY, Spilsby.

The Sessions Arts Convention for the Unconventional is for Lincolnshire based performing artists and creative people who share our passion for outdoor arts, street theatre, contemporary and physical theatre.

Sessions Arts is the production company behind community arts events such as Spilsby Light Night, Horncastle Horse Fair, Lightwaves and more. In 2027 Spilsby Sessions House will be opening its doors to the public for the first time in over a decade and Sessions Arts will be a resident company based in the building ‘making stuff and making stuff happen’, alongside the venue’s events, shows and heritage activities. Sessions Arts will also be staging an opening ceremony event to celebrate the launch of the venue.

We want to tell you the story of how we’ve reached this point and about the upcoming work and creative development opportunities we can offer you. We want to encourage understanding of what our ‘stuff’ is all about and most crucially, we want to find out who would like to play a part in the next chapter of the Sessions Arts story.

By bringing together a circle of artists and creative practitioners, the Sessions Arts Convention for the Unconventional aims to be a catalyst for creativity in Lincolnshire.

The Heritage at Risk works funded by Historic England have been completed at Spilsby Sessions House.

Spilsby Sessions House was first allocated £1.006 million in August 2025 as part of the Heritage at Risk Capital Fund programme which allowed repairs to the roofs, conservation to the windows and some high-level brick works.

Historic England granted an additional £28,500 to the project in March 2026. This funding was for the removal of existing auditorium ceiling under the main roof, whilst retaining and storing some of the decorative features, to be reinstalled when the new ceiling is built. The ceiling work was approved by East Lindsey District Council at planning committee in early February this year.

Historic England's Heritage at Risk Capital Fund programme supports the conservation and regeneration of at-risk heritage assets across the country, and restoring local heritage to ensure it can be enjoyed for many generations to come.

The grant was awarded in addition to the £4.929 million of UK Government funding already secured to ensure the further transformation of this important cultural asset, though a partnership between East Lindsey District Council and Spilsby Sessions House Charity.

We are supporting this brilliant project, collecting memories from teenage years to create an exhibition. To take part, join the free session 10.30am to 12 at the Well being Hub at Spilsby New Life Centre Wed 15th April.
