Did you know the Roundhouse in London opened as an arts and music venue in 1966? 🎭

The Roundhouse is one of the UK's leading cultural centres, offering a programme of cutting-edge theatre, music, dance and performing arts created by young people aged 11-25.

J&C Joel transformed the venue with a large-scale installation of high-quality Wool Serge drapes and bespoke tracking systems, designed to complement the building's unique Victorian character.

Bringing Bradford's creativity to life 🎨

As part of Bradford UK City of Culture 2025, The Beacon was created as a unique touring venue, bringing arts and culture to communities across the district.

At the heart of the venue were two bespoke textile commissions, celebrating Bradford's rich wool heritage and green spaces through contemporary design.

J&C Joel proudly manufactured both commissions, alongside supplying the venue's black masking drapes.

Artists Kangan Arora and Rosemary Edwards created two distinctive drape designs for The Beacon, each requiring a bespoke manufacturing approach.

Kangan Arora's design was created by carefully cutting, matching and stitching coloured fabrics into an 18m x 5m drape.

Rosemary Edwards' artwork was digitally printed onto our Theatre Canvas (PTC001), creating an 18m x 4.8m entrance drape with exceptional colour and detail.

Both drapes were fitted with Golf Bag Hooks and integrated with the venue's tracking system for smooth operation.

We're proud to have helped bring these remarkable designs to life.

It has been an amazing journey over the last 48 years. The company has grown a lot since our beginnings and has worked with some of the most prestigious brands and on some of the biggest events across the globe.

Whether it’s selling flame-retardant fabric, manufacturing drapes and shapes, bringing visions to life through our creative teams or transforming spaces with our stage engineering Projects team, J&C Joel will continue to collaborate and elevate within the amazing industry we're a part of.

It's also a nice surprise when we're reading an issue and see J&C Joel.

In the latest issue, the drapery we provided Solotech UK Group for the British Airways ARC at Olympia in London is mentioned.

We supplied wool serge drapery that allowed a complete theatrical masking solution whilst remaining flexible for multiple stage configurations.
