Having fun investigating family trees for people in the Steep Lane Baptist Chapel graveyard and adding to my art work inspired by the place. So many of them buried were weavers, spinners or overlookers; it is like I am supposed to be here. No photos of art work as it will have to keep as a surprise until later in 2026

Visited Queen Street Mill in Burnley last month and forgot to share the photos I took. I was really inspired and am using some of the photos in a new art work I am doing about a local family of mill workers.

You can find me in my new studio at Steep Lane Baptist Chapel in the old sunday school classroom on the first floor where we are beginning to develop a textile artist hub. It is a wonderful grade 2 listed building that I have helped to renovate by stitching together 30 feet of a 100+ year old Crossley carpet. It is a fantastic space and we will be offering workshops and holding exhibitions, the first being my WoollyArt Club in Spring. If you would like to visit me and find out more about it give me a ring or email me.

To any of you trying to find information about the WoollyArt Club you need to look on the club page. This page is for my artwork only but as you can see it has been badly neglected while I have been so busy. My website is also being overhauled as we speak.

Don't know where time goes but I keep forgetting to post news on here as I concentrate on our club page instead. I finished my piece for the Bradford College Gallery exhibition. It was based on a competition winning piece of fabric that was warp knitted on a raschel loom. I have taught myself how to do this by hand on a knitters loom and borrowed the fashion designer Missoni' s bright colours to weave this piece. I am looking forward to seeing it hung in the gallery and have learnt a new skill.

Heritage day this Sunday and next. I am really looking forward to having our Woollyart friends back together and enjoying finding out more about our textile heritage in Sowerby Bridge with Mike, dyeing fabrics and introducing people who visit to the world of spinning yarn. Hope people turn up - fingers crossed.

I am not very good at remembering to share my own work and even worse at thinking about taking photographs. So I've got a lot of catching up to do on this page or some people will think I've given up. Nothing could be further from the truth as I am busier than ever sharing my love of tapestry, weaving and spinning. I have been experimenting with chain plying using yarns I find that are too thin for my tapestry yet are great when chain plied together sometimes with other colours to make a chunkier yarn. I've also spent time making myself some art bats using my wild carder to add more texture to the yarn I spin. As always I love playing with colour for my weaving. I keep promising myself I will be a better record keeper of all I've learnt and especially get round to keeping a sample book of wools I have used and patterns in weaving I have done. However, as I get to try something new or spend time on a new creative idea I get carried away and forget all about it until it's too late. I maybe need to make it a new year resolution for 2023 that I will keep better records of all I do.
