My staircase parrot I painted in .warehouse.arts.centre a couple of months ago- now I'm using my platform to bring some more awareness to the plight our local bird sanctuary is going through after threats of closure from the council.

We will not lose another part of our town willingly, we have to keep being loud about it. Shares appreciated, repost using the arrows button on the reel, keep making noise.

AI slop advertising will hopefully be as dated and tacky someday as "Live laugh love" signs are today. But for now, it seems we have to endure.

And thank you to the businesses who haven't fallen victim to this icky trend, we see you and will continue using you. And for a small artist like me, I will continue contributing pieces of appreciation art where I can for businesses that I can see value human crafted work.

Let's keep pushing 🎨

Thought for the day 😂 I finally catch a break once the oldest goes to bed, and that's if the youngest feels like giving me an easy evening... then the resetting/tidying house and generally taking a breath for myself. Next thing I know it's 12:30 and time for bed again 😴 I've never wanted to create SO MANY things at once and yet every evening the ability to do so is just out of my grasp 🥲

A new local business blocked me on Facebook the other day. Their brand new page sported a shiny AI generated logo and banner. I responded to a comment already on the post, to the sentiment of "First impressions are really important" when they clapped back with "This is just a placeholder". I'm sorry, but if you can't wait until you can give your business the graphics it deserves then what other corners are you cutting? Money is tight, small businesses have it tough, but aside from the controversies about environmental factors and putting artists out of work, your AI branding looks TACKY as hell right from the word go.

As someone who has done free appreciation artwork alongside commissioned pieces for numerous businesses in and around Southport it really pains me seeing people rely on slop for something they should be proud of. I am one of a growing number of people who are writing off businesses that rely on AI as ones that I'll just choose not to visit in the future. And if having a cringy "meet the team" slop poster is more important to you than keeping loyal customers then you do you boo ❤️
