We’re holding Darren’s wake at The Lounge jazz club on Thursday 3rd September from 7pm.

Anyone who knew Darren, had a laugh with him, shared a memory with him or even just knew him in passing is more than welcome to come along.

There’s no invite list we just want anyone who knew Darren and wants to come and remember him to feel welcome.

It would be lovely to have everyone together and remember Darren in our own way.

Some posts are easy to write.

This isn’t one of them.

For the past day we have been sat here trying to find the right words but the truth is, there aren’t any how do you put into words the loss of someone who meant so much to so many people?

Many of you would have known him from the Hangar or the Lounge Club, he wasn’t just one thing he was everything. A carpenter that helped build the place to what it is today, front of house welcoming everyone with a smile, behind the bar serving customers and always lending a hand to wherever it was needed. He was the person you would look for in a crowded room.

He wasn’t just a member of our team, he was family to us all.

The place won’t feel quite the same without him, every corner of this place holds a reminder of Darren, his impact wasn’t just the work he did, it was in the people he made laugh, the conversations he had and the memories we all created with him. Darren truly was the person that lit up the room instantly. He was the life and soul of the party.

Our hearts are with his family, his friends, and everyone’s whose lives he touched.

To Darren,

Thank you for everything. Every conversation. Every helping hand you were so much more than a colleague. You were our family. And you really left a mark on everyone.

We hope you know how truly loved, valued and appreciated you truly were.
