Southampton Clothes Swaps Southampton Clothes Swaps is a community venture to bring together the community, stop waste and save money. How swaps work:

1.

Clothes swaps are £2 entry but if you feel you can't afford it, pay what you can! Clothes swaps and stuff swaps are an informal environment which saves clothes from landfill and presents an exciting alternative to spending your money on new things fro

m expensive shops and potentially unethical production methods. Dig out the clothes and things you've had sitting around that you no longer use or want (or cannot take with you when you move). The more the merrier if you need a clear out.

2.Bring your things to the swap (please make sure they are clean/fit for some kind of use). Lay your things out in the correct section.

3.Have a rummage through everything else to find yourself some things you like.

4.Sit down and have a drink or some food, chill out and appreciate your (new) stuff!

Clothes Swap is run by a group of spectacular (and modest) volunteers. We’re after a couple extra hands to help out with Clothes Swap behind the scenes! If you're into sustainability and community, and have a few hours to spare from time to time, we'd welcome your help!

✨ Help with lifts: Each swap the equipment needS to be driven from City Centre to swap venue and back at the end. Often one person drives one way and another takes the return journey. You'd be added to a group chat where you can sign up to drive if you're available.
✨ Film footage at events/make reels and help spread the word about Clothes Swap.
✨ Rail Custodian: Store a rail and hangers and bring them to the swaps you're able to attend!

**NEW RULES ANNOUNCEMENT**

You can still bring as much as you like to swap but for the time being you must limit the amount you take to one bag for life per swap.

A bag for life is based on a Sainsbury's reliabag which measures 45 cm (width) x 38 cm (height) x 18 cm (depth). It’s pretty similar to most supermarket bags for life. If the bag you bring is too big we can provide you with one for the swap to return at the end.

We don't love making extra rules but we're having to implement this due to some swappers taking heavily disproportionate amounts compared to what they bring, leaving other swappers with low quality and little choice. Swap is a lovely community thing run by volunteers and we'd like to keep it nice and fair.

GIFT SWAP! We'll have a 1-1 swap table for unwanted xmas gifts at the next swap, so bring down your unwanted Christmas things. Similarly to the clothes swap it will work like so:

- put your unwanted xmas gifts on the table
- take things that you actually want
- take the same number of items as you brought with you

Please bring actually giftable things, not just stuff you don't want. Random kitchen utensils and books that have been in a cupboard since the dawn of time may be rejected as I don't want them to live in my house.

We're hoping this will reduce the amount of pure tat that ends up in landfill. Perhaps you might find a gift you actually love! For info on January's swap - link in bio.
