Pamela Davies - Artist

Pamela Davies - Artist Examples of my original works, created over more than a decade. From poster paint to acrylic, from glue to glitter, this is just a selection!

Having been a lover of arts and crafts for over two decades, Pamela has tried her hand at many different forms. Just a few examples of her skills include silversmithing and jewellery making, fabric working, papercrafts and glass painting. However, Pamela has recently been refocussing her efforts on canvas. Having always been a lover of bright colours and rainbows in particular, Pamela has chosen t

o produce a number of bold works that are both entertaining and aesthetically pleasing. She enjoys experimenting with colour combinations and diverging from reality while still reflecting the beauty of nature. To enhance the three dimensional effect of her pieces, the artist also makes clever use of subtle texture to add depth and interest. For her 2015 exhibition at the Coffee House, Hythe, the artist has compiled a selection of her works from across the years. The majority are acrylic based, although the 'Lilac Trunk' and 'Spinning Rainbow' are significant exceptions to the rule, being composed in pastel pencil and mixed papers respectively. Of particular note are Pamela's most recent pieces, commissioned specifically for display at the Coffee House; 'Clockwork Purple' and 'Garden Purple'. With these, the artist has developed the depth of colour and texture with various intriguing added elements which keep the viewer's attention. While many of the items on display are available to purchase as seen, Pamela is also available to accept commissions. Whether this be similar compositions with slightly altered elements or colours, or entirely new pieces, the artist is happy to discuss projects and tailor them to the buyer's preference. She can be contacted via email at [email protected].

This week the sun shone so I wore last summer's beach dress and got stopped in Tesco for a random stranger to compliment it.

I love being able to make matching outfits for my children too.

I love watching this artist work.

Skulls aren't my thing, but the patterns are beautiful, the process is mesmerising and the overall concept of this piece is brilliant.

This weekend I have been working on my first test sew, for a pattern in development. So I can't show you those photos, but I did make a few pairs of shorts last week I can share. They are made to be practical wear for under skirts or sleeping rather than being the most beautiful.

Do you remember the two purple & teal tunics I shared a month ago? The recipient loved them so much she asked me to make her 2 more. Plus some other items...
Here are the 'tennis dresses' and she describes them:

They are made from 1m of fabric, and the width is determined by the width of the fabric bolt. As you can see, the butterfly one was a bit wider. This also allowed me to squeeze out matching sleeves rather than colour blocked.
The starfish fabric had a little extra length for the matching sleeves.

Two tunic dresses made as a gift.
The recipient shares my love of purple (especially paired with blue/teal).
I colour blocked the sleeves to get the maximum length out of 1m each of these beautiful prints.

Throwback Thursday
This one is a long throwback, to when I was doing my jewellery GCSE in 2010. As I was sorting out my jewellery supplies to sell, I came across some of my coursework pieces.
