We are a group of amateur musicians from Southampton, Solent & New Forest area. New members are very welcome!

We perform a wide repertoire of music, from classical to light modern, including symphonies and concertos.

Lunchtime piano recital - 21 July 2026

Join Julian Williams at 1pm-1.45pm, Romsey Abbey, for a lunchtime piano recital featuring Mozart (Sonata in A minor, KV310) and Schubert (Four Impromptus, op.90).

Entry is free, with a retiring collection to help cover costs.

Part of Romsey Abbey's regular programme of Tuesday lunchtime concerts.

Cellist Phil Lloyd will is displaying his striking artwork at Art for Art's Sake, an art and photography exhibition and craft market, taking place on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 August 2026 (12pm-5pm), St Andrew's Church, Southampton SO17 1XQ.

Orchestra members, join us this evening (Thursday 16 July 2026) for our repertoire night, a relaxed session playing music from the library, followed by our social.

The Solent Concert Orchestra is entering an exciting new chapter, and we’re looking for talented and enthusiastic musicians to join us as:

✨ Leader (First Violin)
✨ Principal Second Violin

This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape and develop our upper strings section within a friendly, supportive, and dedicated orchestra community.

We are looking for players of Grade 8+ standard with:

• Ensemble leadership experience
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• A collaborative and encouraging approach
• The ability to guide and support section members during rehearsals and performances

Our repertoire ranges from classical favourites to light modern works, including symphonies and concertos. We rehearse on Thursday evenings (7.45pm–9.45pm) and perform 3–4 concerts each year.

🎼 A fee is paid for rehearsals and concerts in recognition of your time and commitment.

🎻 Looking for an orchestra to join? 🎺

Now is the perfect time to join Solent Concert Orchestra!

We’re rehearsing for our November 2026 concert, featuring an inspiring and varied programme:

🎵 Brahms — Academic Festival Overture
🎵 Elgar — Romance for Bassoon and Orchestra
🎵 Gade — Symphony No. 6 in G minor
🎵 German — Nell Gwyn Overture & Three Dances
🎵 Saint-Saëns — Romance for Horn and Orchestra

We’re a welcoming orchestra of amateur musicians from across Southampton, the Solent and the New Forest, and we’d love to hear from new players. Grade 5+ recommended.

We’re particularly keen to hear from string players (especially violas) as well as 2nd trombone and percussion players.
