aching in dance, music and drama and, in doing so, aim for each and every student to come away from their time in the studio INSPIRED and DRIVEN. Roynon have been established for almost 40 years now, meaning that we have taught generations within our community in a range of genres and styles. For dance specifically, this includes Tap, Ballet, Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, Acro, Commercial and Hip-Hop, as well as new, popular classes for toddlers (Mimbies) and Boys class. The drama and music faculties have grown in recent years and now include instrumental tuition, professional vocal training, Musical Theatre, recording techniques, stage direction, script writing and much, much more. We follow recognised syllabus including ISTD, Acrobatic Arts, Progressing Ballet Technique, Trinity and Rock School. Roynon Performing Arts genuinely CARE about each and every student. RPA strive to make every learning experience meaningful and contribute towards the learning journey of a student. We have a DEDICATED, QUALIFIED and EXPERIENCED teaching team and are also extremely proud to have built a bank of INDUSTRY CONTACTS who regularly come to our school and guest teach for workshops and other special events. Our students are also given unique performance opportunities at local events, private functions and even a-list celebrity events. This is why our students not only make quality progression of arts skills but make fantastic, fond MEMORIES and FRIENDSHIPS along the way. Looking for something fun, creative and inspiring this summer?

Join us at Roynon Performing Arts for our exciting Summer Workshop Series for ages 11+ at Swanmore College, running Thursdays from 6pm–8pm.

✨ 23rd July – Jazz with Melissa
✨ 30th July – Contemporary with Luke
✨ 6th August – Commercial with Honey
✨ 13th August – Lyrical with Lucy
✨ 20th August – Musical Theatre Jazz with Madeleine
✨ 27th August – Back to Class workshop (Teacher to be announced)

Our teachers and behind the scenes team mean the world! 🥰🥰

We have a date in the diary so that we catch up once a month on zoom to not only ensure everything in the school is running as smoothly as possible but also to check in with everyone and offer support and help too🫶🏻

Each month we run a team training session and remind everyone how valued they are, that we are a team and that everyone has skills and knowledge to bring to the table.

It’s become a highlight in the calendar and I’m grateful for being given such amazing people to work with 🩵🩵

🩰 Why do so many Modern dancers also take Ballet? 🩰

It’s a question we’re often asked by parents, especially as students begin progressing through their Modern grades.

The ISTD strongly recommends studying Ballet alongside Modern Theatre, and there’s a very good reason why.

✨ Ballet develops the core strength, posture, alignment and technical foundations that support a dancer throughout their training.

✨ The footwork, balance and control learned in Ballet help dancers perform the more dynamic kicks, jumps and travelling movements found in Modern safely and confidently.

✨ As Ballet and Modern use the body in different ways, studying both styles creates stronger, more versatile and well-rounded dancers.

✨ Students taking both disciplines often find it easier to learn choreography, understand dance terminology and progress through the ISTD syllabus.

As dancers move into the higher grades and vocational levels, the technical demands increase significantly. The strength, placement and understanding developed through Ballet training become increasingly important and help students achieve their full potential in Modern examinations.

While every dancer’s journey is unique, Ballet provides an invaluable foundation that supports progression, confidence and long-term development across many styles of dance. 🩵

Miss Sarah’s TIP OF THE MONTH Confidence isn’t something you wait for.

It’s something you build.

It’s tempting to hold back until the nerves go, until you’re sure you won’t get it wrong. But that moment never really comes.

Confidence grows in the room. In the trying. In getting it wrong in front of people - and doing it again anyway.

So show up. Have a go. Let it be messy before it’s brilliant.
