Hearing the news of closure today has hit hard for Anthead.

This theatre was truly our life-blood. Anthead was founded as a result of making work for the Nuffield’s Make It SO Festival. We are beyond devastated to hear that they’re closing their doors after 60 years, and their wonderful staff are now furloughed.

British Theatre is dying, and there is no reason to sugar coat that. Not enough - not much of anything at all - is being done to save UK Theatre, and it’s a travesty.

Though our time with NST was short lived, we have memories of the Nuffield that will last us all a lifetime.

British Theatre has lost an icon today
