This Tuesday (26th May) evening the Focsle welcomes guests Cath Watkins (fiddle) and Nic Bradford (guitar and voice) at the Raven & Bine (16 Carlton Place, Southampton SO15 2DY) from 7:30 until 10:30. Cath and Nic play material ranging from graceful Seventeenth Century country dances through jolly English session tunes to swinging standards of the thirties and forties. Frequently the boundaries between the different genres get a bit blurred…

There'll be a singaround, for anyone who’d like to participate - or just come to listen and join in the chat. We recommend a minimum £5 per person donation and there'll be a raffle too.

You've probably noticed that Focsle meetings have had to change venues on Tuesday evenings quite often over the last year or so, so reluctantly we have decided that we need to have a new home where we can be sure of a regular welcome. The Raven & Bine (16 Carlton Place, Southampton SO15 2DY; 023 8214 5571) will become our permanent venue from next Tuesday (12th May) on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, in the evenings from 7:30 until 10:30 (note revised timings). Parking can be found in nearby Upper Banister Street and Southampton Street.

Dancing Man Brewery's latest adventure brings us to the Bedford Place area.

On Tuesday next week (28th April, 8:00 pm until 11:00 pm) at the Raven & Bine (16 Carlton Place, SO15 2DY) our guest at the Focsle is the Mike Davies Duo. Mike's been playing with local musicians (including Lucy Kitchen, who guested at the Focsle recently) for many years, and he's an active recording artist and session player. Recently he's been concentrating on his own compositions. There'll be a singaround and a raffle. Recommended donation: £5.

Tonight's (14th April) Focsle meeting is at a new (to us) venue: the Raven & Bine (16 Carlton Place, Southampton SO15 2DY). Parking available in Southampton Street and Upper Banister Street. From 8:00 until 11:00, a singaround evening, punctuated by a raffle.

"I hear the Shadowy Horses... the Horses of Disaster..." - and you can hear them too, this Tuesday evening at The Guide Dog from 8:00, when Horses Of Disaster ( Ben Walker & David Brian) will be our guests. If you've heard them singing together before, you'll probably need no encouragement to attend. If you haven't, come along and prepare to be astounded. Suggested donation: £5. There'll also be a singaround, and a raffle in the break.

This Tuesday (24th February) the Focsle meets at The Wellington Arms (note it's not the Guide Dog this time) for a singaround - come along and sing, play, recite or just listen. A voluntary donation of £2 is suggested, and there'll be a raffle. Facilities for online payment will be available.
