Hello & Welcome to the home of Encore on Facebook (Eee look at us on social media!)

Please spare a few moments and read about us and what's current with our little group. We started as a group of friends who, having performed with various local musical and theatre societies, got our heads together and decided we would like to do more....and more! We perform a wide range of musical numbers in our own inimitable style...with a slice of humour and a sprinkling of fun thrown in for good measure. We aim to make you smile a lot, laugh a little and probably cry a bit in an evening crammed full of entertainment. We started performing at The Customs House in South Shields. In 2015 we were touched to become an Honorary Fellow of The Customs House Academy. Since 2021 we now perform at our new home, the Westovian Theatre. We perform here twice a year, in both May and November. Encore has appeared at other venues around the area, including The People’s Theatre in Newcastle, The Empire Theatre in Consett, Gala Theatre in Durham, St Peter’s University Campus and in the As You Like It Restaurant. We do our bit for charity too - having held collections after performances for the likes of Help for Heroes and The Alzheimer's Society, to name a couple. Every year up until 2020 we did a special one night performance in aid of The Rotary Club Jarrow.

We are back!!

Don’t know about you but it’s been too hot over the summer - you can’t enjoy a cup of tea and a fig roll in 25 degree heat.

Anyway - the poster is done, which means two things. Everyone on the poster is contractually obliged to take part and most importantly the count down to the November show is on!!

First rehearsal is in a couple of weeks so follow along for behind the scenes videos, general arsing about and the return of Snack of the Week!!

This week saw two Encore members take to the stage as Morticia and Gomez in the Addams Family musical with Walkerville Musical Society. Well done to Ian and Lisa for a spookily good performance. (Also huge well done to future Encore star in the making - well done Angus)

Some of Encore went along to see the duo strut their stuff. Leigh and Michael even took Encore superfan Peter!

Our May show saw us perform a tribute to John Robinson, who sadly died at the beginning of the year.

After each show we had a collection for the Cardiology Department at Sunderland Royal Hospital. You raised a whopping £486 in Johns memory. Thank you all for digging deep when times are tough, it means so much to us and to Johns family.

A big thank you also goes to the Westovian staff who helped with the collection.

Yes it’s the penultimate Snack of the Week and the final one BEFORE the show!

This weeks edition was another spicy one - Pepperami hot and spicy honey bbq cheesy bites. They were a bit of an animal - but also not a bit of an animal as they were suitable for veggies. However, they didn’t agree with Lisa 🤯

Yes the fact finder that is James is back with some musical stats for our May show.

No shrinkflation here - Encore are still delivering the same value as we did a year ago with a song every two minutes. And as Lil says that’s about 30p a song - what a bargain!

Yes that’s true dedication.

We are on the final stretch of rehearsals where we run the show and tighten up any bits that need it. At this point it’s like a well oiled machine. Muscle memory brings out those harmonies, and we naturally gravitate to positions.

Poor Ecca isn’t very well, but didn’t want to miss one of our final run throughs. Get well soon Ecca - like for next week.

SOTW is back after three weeks off and we’ve gone for one of our favourite snacks - an exciting flavour of .uk

This time it’s XL double cheeseburger flavour and we can’t hide it - the scores weren’t whoppers. Yes the guys gave them a good grilling and weren’t flaming impressed. How are you liking these Burger King puns?!
