This young boy experienced things no child ever should, but he didn't let it beat him.
Roman Oleksiv was only 7 years old when a Russian missile struck the city of Vinnytsia, Ukraine, while he and his mother were waiting to see a doctor.
The attack tragically k*lled his mother and left Roman with severe burns covering 45% of his body, shrapnel wounds, and a broken arm.
He spent 30 days in a coma before being transferred to Germany, where he underwent more than 30 surgeries and months of painful rehabilitation.
Doctors feared Roman might never walk or use his hands normally again, but he refused to let his injuries define him.
Less than a year later, he returned to school, learned to play the accordion, and began ballroom dancing.
Wearing his compression garments to protect his healing skin, Roman stepped onto the dance floor and performed the tango, showing the world his incredible strength and determination.
