Today marks one year since we lost Rob Drugan.
He was a remarkable artist and metalworker and at the heart of Glastonbury on Sea. A member of the Mutoid Waste Company, Rob’s gentle spirit and anarchic energy shaped our community from its earliest days.
The Pier’s new sculpture ‘Rob Bot’ crafted from an original work by Rob and completed by Wreckage and Adam Carrier Sippy. It stood front and centre in Rob’s memory.
This year’s festival carried a bittersweet note. Although the festival is changed without him, we remain committed to reflecting Rob’s values: creativity, kindness, and a childlike sense of wonder. We honour the wild, beautiful, ridiculous memories we share, the laughter and inspiration ignited by his genius.
Today, many of us wear a piece of Rob’s clothing, a link to his spirit and to one another. If you are among the hundreds missing him, know that our love reaches out to you. Raise a glass with us in his memory and somewhere no doubt he’s raising one too, in that workshop in the sky.
To Rob’s friends and family: our love is with you, today and always. Let us all strive to “be more Rob” generous, kind, silly, unafraid to dream, and forever full of wonder.
We miss you Rob🖤
