🎨 Our Art Section is Back!

We're delighted to kick off the 2026-27 programme with 'Landscape in Acrylics' led by the wonderful Tanya Farrugia!

📅 Monday 7th September
🕢 7:30–9:30pm
📍 The Gantry, Alderbrook School

Based in the West Midlands, Tanya is a contemporary landscape painter whose expressive acrylic paintings capture the beauty of both natural and urban environments. Inspired by the effects of light, colour and tone, her work celebrates the wonder in everyday places, from leafy canals to familiar streets.
You may also recognise Tanya from her recent appearance on Landscape Artist of the Year 2026!

🎭 Meet the Solihull Youth Theatre Production Team!

SYT are thrilled to be working with a fantastic creative team for their upcoming production of Shrek The Musical! 💚

These are the people who'll be bringing the show to life, combining years of experience with Solihull Youth Theatre and a wealth of productions with other local theatre companies. They're passionate about helping young performers grow, build confidence and create an unforgettable show together!

Auditions kick off next week and then its go go go for this lot!

🍂 WE’RE BACK FOR SEPTEMBER! 🎭🎨🎶

After the summer break, our SSA sections are back, and September is looking BUSY! Take a look at our calendar to see what’s coming up this month 👀

🎭 Auditions are on the way! SSA Drama Section will be casting their upcoming pantomime, Red Riding Hood, while Solihull Youth Theatre will be holding auditions for Shrek The Musical.

🎨 Our Art Section is back at the easel, kicking off the new season with Landscape in Acrylics.

📚 Local History Circle returns with a fascinating look at Solihull Parish Landowners in the 1840s.

🎶 SOS Solihull On Stage has its very first rehearsal for Jekyll & Hyde! They’re still looking for male-presenting ensemble members, so it’s definitely not too late to get involved if you fancy joining the cast.

🎼 And our Recorded Music Circle is back with its regular Tuesday evening sessions throughout the month.

Whether you’re into theatre, art, history or music, there’s plenty happening at SSA this September, and we’d love to welcome you along! ❤️

If you love music and enjoy discovering new works in the company of fellow enthusiasts, the SSA Recorded Music Circle could be for you.

For only £20 per year, you'll enjoy twice-monthly evenings of exceptional listening, with music played on high-quality sound equipment so every performance can be appreciated at its very best.

Whether your taste is Baroque, Classical, Romantic or Modern, you'll hear a wonderful variety of:
🎵 Symphonic and orchestral works
🎵 Opera and choral music
🎵 Chamber music and instrumental pieces
🎵 Songs and much more!

Meetings take place twice a month on Tuesdays, from 7:30pm in the Sixth Form Room at Alderbrook School, Blossomfield Road.

📜 Join the SSA Local History Circle for just £15 a year!

For only £15, you'll enjoy a fascinating programme of monthly talks exploring the rich history of Solihull, Birmingham and beyond.

Talks take place once a month (usually on the third Monday) at Solihull Methodist Church Hall, with a warm welcome for anyone with an interest in local history.

Our 2026/27 programme will be announced soon, but previous talks have included:
📖 Water, Water – The story of how fresh water was brought to Birmingham and Solihull through the Elan Valley Dams.
📖 Shirley Families – Their businesses, adventures and the great gold rush of Solihull Lodge.
📖 Memories of the Back to Backs – Featuring recordings made for the BBC, the National Trust and Birmingham Central Library.

Welcomes you to their bi-weekly listening sessions

🎭 Our Drama, SOS and Solihull Youth Theatre sections have slightly different models as they put on their individual productions rather than workshops, and memberships are paid by cast members. Get in touch with them directly for more information about joining.
